Deduplicate emails warning when configuring Google Form App Script sending to an alias.

Hello, I am trying to send on email from an alias (domain specific) and get a warning about duplicate emails, see screenshot attached. I have configured an App script to send an email confirmation out after a Google Form submission. Is it possible to get around this issue? how would I got about it? Would making this alias address the default email address in my Gmail account solve this issue?

The email you send emails from and the email you receive them on (after email routing) needs to be different

hi thanks for responding...could you clarify? I route from domain email to my personal email then I am just wanting a form notification email. So I have tried both using my personal email and then my domain email but I still get this warning message....

Well essentially you get that error due to a Gmail limitation (not a Cloudflare limitation, we just send you a notification so you don't wonder why it didnt work) which happens when you send an email from your Gmail address that passes through Email Routing and ultimately ends up routed to the same Gmail inbox it came from. Whether it went through the domain or not, if it originates from and eventually arrives in the same Gmail inbox, Google will discard it. You would need to involve another email address destination to get this to work properly. Note that Email Routing is simply a forwarding service and not a fully featured email hosting provider. P.S. Messages here are indexed publicly, you may want to redact your personal email address if you don't want it to be known publicly.

Thank you for your reply...i understand the limitations now..I thought that since I have set up the domain email in my Gmail account to be the default email address that this would just work 🙂

could you suggest or recommend any other options? You suggested to have another email account...and forward it back to my personal email account 😅

The limitation happens when you send from your personal email and send it back to your personal email, so you need to change either the destination (after forwarding) or the send address of the emails so that theyre not ultimately the same. If you are just testing and these emails normally land in someone elses inbox, then you're actually fine already.

Yes that a tough one...because the website form uses the domain email address (forwarded to my personal Gmail account) which submits to a Google form which is setup n this same Gmail account. So catch 22. I was only hoping to get an email notification of the form submission in my email....but it seem a little pointless to get that notification in a different email address... Never mind...I will have to find another solution. Thanks for your help @Erisa | Support Engineer I really appreciate your time to reply. Thanks again 😀
