I don't think steam link works.
Every time I try to use it, it just for some very strange reason reboots my steam start-up and then disconnects.

yeah i also have issues. my desktop runs bazzite and my deck runs steamOS. if i tried to stream a game from my desktop to the deck, SteamOS restarts 😠i didnt look much into it though. i think steam link doesn't like when the host is linux in general
been a problem since last year
you can always use Sunshine in the meantime
What's sunshine?
And is it as good at keeping latency down?
better than steam remote play from experience
but if you need remote from outside of your network, it is a bit more involved to setup (port forwarding) than steam remote play
Ohhh, thank you for the info, I'll look into it.
ujust install-sunshine
in promptTy, I was actually about to open a thread about this myself, though I haven't experienced the restarting issue. Haven't tried native remote play on steam games, but native remote play on non-steam games gives a black screen on the Deck (Consistent across multiple distros as the host, I believe this is moreso an issue with either Steam itself or Wayland) and using the Steam Link app on the Deck to get around the issue displays a garbled mess or has a quarter of the screen chopped off with incorrect colors and poor audio quality.
It seems to be distro-dependent. Aside from non-steam games doing Steam Link from standard Fedora works fine.
Does Sunshine need to be installed on the host, client, or both sides?
Sunshine is host
There are other clients that connect to it
I see
Moonlight is the most popular client for sunshine
