I have this vintage Geoffrey Beene shirt that I wear all the time (including literally right now) and I'm not sure if it's chambray or denim, though it feels too thin to be a denim shirt
Denim is twill, chambray is plain weave. Post a close up pic of your shirt if you want to find out

I think this is a j crew denim workshirt
its 90s geoffrey beene miUSA, thats all I know. It's also very "thin" feeling. By comparison I have a pretty thick vintage Fieldmaster shirt which is obviously denim

It looks like denim to me? weight doesn't mean that much. Plain weaves can be lighter but denim can also get v light
Good to know weight isn't a major indiciator. I wonder how I might be able to capture a better picture. For now perhaps it will just by my mysterious favorite shirt
Twill has the diagonal lines and unless it's overdyed the inside of the fabric will be a different color than the outside
You can also just look at diagrams of the different weaves and then look closely at the fabric to see which matches
Lighting in the second pic is good. It might be better if the fabric was laying flat.
