Chinos in EU, budget tops 80€

Hey guys, looking for good/high quality chinos under 80€ (on sale RRP could be higher). What brands to look for? Stretch or no stretch? What about the fit for basic bastard? Slim, regular or athletic?

In terms of fit I would go regular or wider. And no stretch! Slim and athletic are not on trend. For that budget I would look at uniqlo or weekday for the lower end and if you want to get something a bit nicer on sale maybe Carhartt WIP, Dickies, Stan Ray, Gramicci or Universal Works.

Definitely agree with 100% cotton (no stretch) and not skinny/slim.

Np, they are definitely MFAish brands and partly from the US so I understand. But they're all very available over here. Most european brands that I know that make nice chinos are more expensive

Europe always more expensive... sad news

I dunno...that wasn't my experience in France. Prices were pretty comparable. Nothing you can do about it tho. The EU brands might be aiming for a dressier look at a higher price point. Casual chinos might be more common in the US. Not sure.

I think that is definitely part of it .Casual chinos are very normal over here now but they haven't always been. There are plenty of european (mall)brands that make chinos around this price point too but I wouldn't recommend them over the brands listed above

yes, but sending from US not worth and buying same brands in europe is high price point now just checked Carhartt most of them polyster material... WTF?! few only cotton 98%, I am not even speaking about 100 Dickies has no traditional chino model, carpenter looks cool, but hammer loop...

Polyester is not necessarily bad but I can understand it if you prefer cotton. You can also go the vintage/milsurp route of course. For example these: https://universal-surplus.com/collections/pants-tailor/products/french-chino-civilian-90s?variant=44627579339039

What's wrong with stretch?

well-fitting chinos don't need stretch, stretch chinos became popular in the 2010s when slim tapered / skinny chinos were popular and they were unbearable to wear without elastane stretch chinos also have a bit of an unattractive synthetic luster to them which really doesn't vibe well with casual / workwear / milsurp style chinos which are supposed to look matte

So stretch is associated with slimmer cuts. No benefits of stretch in straight cuts? Oh I wasn't aware 2-4% elastane is that visible.

it's worse than no benefit - it's bad for the drape and the longevity of the garment

chinos that look this good don't have elastane in em
