Lightstream & O.E. unlock code feature
Im about to lose it.. lol
(picture 1)
Everytime i got to the Lightstreams page it asks for an unlock code. So in another tab i enter the code on O.E. and your/my overlays become visible/accessible
(picture 2)
Then when i select " go live " on my console, Lightstream requests 2 codes.. one for the actual stream & one for that editing screen.
(pictures 3-4)
So now i have to go back to the O.E. tab type /unlock, load the page and enter one of them, then go back to look at the second code... type /unlock again into O.E url (bc it doesnt stay in the address bar after the page loads) and enter the second code all in 2min.
If i dont get the code entered in time i have to end the stream and start this whole process over again.
---- On my second attempt, for some reason my actual game was lagging tf out when i was demonstrating that the Lightstream pages edit screen and stream were stuck on two separate images.
( if you would like the window recording of lightstream, the stream video and the console gamplay clip. i can try to message you or put it as a comment in a zip format. (i dont have "nitro") )

@Marc this is something marc has to look into as hes the only coder for OE
but the having to use the code everytime is because light stream doesnt save the cookie or something like that its been awhile since ive used lightstream
yeah if i remember right one of his comments in a post says they dont save browser data. i talked to Ls customer support about that, but he didnt know since Ls doesnt support you guys. Asked him what it would take. ( trying to push for it) haha
yea i tried aswell and never got any response about it
Ive also started a ticket with Ls for the issue in this post, just have to wait till business hours to hear back.
Yes, Lightstream doesn’t save browser source cookies between sessions so you will need to unlock the overlay every time.
Unlocking the overlay is required for security reasons so there is nothing we can do on our side, but keep us updated on what Lightstream says.
so as far as Ls supporting O.E. " In regards to what it would take in order for us to support overlays from Overlay Expert, that is not something I would be able to advise on as it is something that our team would have to look into. As mentioned, I have that tagged as a feature request so that if we ever do have any updates on their overlays being supported we'll be sure to let you know! " My stream issue report, " For the issues that you had reported with your last stream, we do not happen to save recordings of any streams but we do save some information in regards to the broadcast to help with troubleshooting. Looking at the most recent VOD on your Twitch account, it looks like the overlay in question is one from Overlay Experts that was stuck on the screen. As we have previously mentioned, their overlays are not ones that we currently support and are most likely not compatible with our service at this time. " Which O.E. not being compatible doesnt make since bc ive streamed before on Ls w/ O.E in a Browser source layer and thats why im trying to stick with both you bc O.E has setting options and capabilities that no one else does ( that i could tell ) for the avg joe that doesnt fully know html/css and using O.E on Ls bypasses the limits of the twitch extension to be able to view overlas on mobile & VOD. So I would suggest hitting up Ls to becoming supported ( and getting your Name on that 3rd Party integration menu. ha ). Im going to ask this customer support guy if he can pass along a msg to have Ls contact you guys also.
Thanks for following up.
As you’ve experienced, Lightstream supports browser sources so they already support Overlay Expert; there’s nothing more to do on our side.
You can try asking them to save and restore browser source sessions, including cookies, between loads. If they add that, you won’t have to unlock every time.
As for getting us added to their integration menu, they see our Twitch Extension as a competitor so we’ll see if they reach out, but thanks for mentioning it to them.

Their saying its O.E Im trying to comprehend what makes an overlay service like StreamElement different from O.E. from what i can tell, you have alot more features for alerts, and why i have to enter a code on Lightstream Browser source when StreamElements also needs a URL copied over to Ls.

We ask for the unlock code when you stream with OBS too, but OBS can remember the unlock code and not ask for it for 2 weeks and LightStream cannot so ... 🤷
Go to your stream URL in any browser and it will remember and not ask you for two weeks.
OE is free and you're paying for for LightStream so it's really something that they should add/support
Right! i just want a smooth streaming XP w/o all the hoops and issues. like the stream im doing now (been going for 16hr 40min.. ) at the beginning of the stream all the alerts worked, i tested both follow and chat display and a someone came in and followed me with displayed the alert image. then at some point i had a couple people chatting and nothing was showing up, which they followed and said they didnt see anything on there end. Also im about to pay for your subscription bc you do have alot of potential and.. i seen the feature request you made pinning my post to it, that does really means alot to me.. shows me you listen to what others have to say and you're willing to change/improve your company
I will look into it, but in the past, we've had users stream for that long with OBS without issue.
We are a very small team and what we go though is very similar to what small streamers go though to try to make it big, so we definitely understand and appreciate any support you can spare 💜
So its definitely Ls, the stream i did when the msg alert didnt so up was in mid stream i added a screen share layer which freshed the site causing the editor window to request a code (which i thought it was wierd that the stream output window didnt) and im pretty sure thats what did it bc i did a stream last night and didnt add any layers in Ls and eveything worked the whole time.
i basically told that other stream services can save the code for an extended period of time so they should be able to also. thats what he replied. so idk if you know anything about cloud servers and how to address a solution

I feel like giving up.... Had another Overlay alert(s) issue so I connected Lightstream. Does O.E refresh itself when a user account is active or at all on other servers? And can you please 🙏 remove the code feature? 🙏 I stream through console and cant use OBS, thats why i looked into Ls (destination option under stream settings on console) and found out your overlays appear on VOD & mobile.

I am making some improvements under the hood so maybe it will be possible to remove the code verification in the future, but as of now, it's too risky to make it optional.
I still think Lightstream can resolve this issue on their end. Yes, they are use cloud machines, but in those cloud machines they are also controlling a browser or even OBS in order to render browser sources in your stream. If they are controlling the browser/OBS, they can store the session and restore it for on future streams or if the cloud machine switches.
