Got a delicate sweater shipped smelling like cigarettes.
Label instructions seem pretty clear to only HCS/delicate dry cleaning but wondering if this is enough for getting rid of the smell. I've seen mixed answers online regarding the need to dry clean knitwear but I'm wondering if this is the only choice.

why don't you ask a dry cleaner instead of us lol
if you clean it in any other way you run the risk of damaging the sweater according to the manufactor so I would start with their reccommendations before wondering about alternatives
woolite, delicate cycle, lay flat to dry on a drying rack.
has always worked for me with sweaters
look at you, dashing my hopes that I won't have to spend more money on something i just bought
Air it outside out of direct sunlight for a few days. Will probably help a lot.
do not take my advice but I read online some people put theirs in a freezer? I know what you mean though I got a vintage m65 that reeked of cigarettes and it took a lot of outside walks to get it to smell normal
Thing is, cigarette really does pierce through other scents and is hard to ignore. Did you wash your jacket as well to rid the smell?
The freezer won't work for cigarettes, consulting a drycleaner isn't a bad idea, you don't have to have them clean it but they can tell you if they can get the smell out and the cost
Otherwise, wash by hand in cold water using wool friendly detergent, like woolite. Permanent style has a great tutorial on his YouTube
I did yes but it was an army m65 so I would not have done it with a sweater. I have a bunch of sweaters that smell like a farm and it just went away with wears
This is good advice. I bought a vintage jacket online that reeked of cigarettes and I was surprised how well this worked. I didn’t even need to wash it.
This worked remarkably well! 👍 Thanks.
It worked! Thanks for the suggestion.
