Lol my parents and brother say I'm dressing like a grandpa a lot of the time so that's good for me ig

Confuzzler6mo ago
Do think quiet luxury is on its way out but jelly dressing is pushing it
Benji
Benji6mo ago
"Spanning home décor, couture and beauty ideas, the jellyfish aesthetic is bubbling up across mens and womenswear for 2024, with puffed-up silhouettes and accessories, lilac and blue tones, iridescent fabrics and fluid lines." For those like me who didn't know what jelly dressing meant I'm happy if there will be an anti quiet luxury movement as they predict

I'm always jelly dressing. cause when I'm dressing all my haters are jelly

Are their predictions correct or are they making them correct via their influence Only time will tell

Jelly dressing is a new one
Bigelow

Honestly kinda love it

I think you could channel some jelly too isaac
Bigelow
Bigelow6mo ago
I think Isaac already does a bit Pinks and blues
hecklebuckle
hecklebuckle6mo ago

Based on Timmy Tim's example in the article, I think I'd probably implement that in some Miami Vice suiting way

How I feel about all the industry predictions stuff
kyoko
kyoko6mo ago
except pantone
bishopcorrigan
bishopcorrigan6mo ago
Like if everyone makes the stuff yall predict of course it’s true!
kyoko
kyoko6mo ago
pantone theoretically has that power but then it's just an ugly color you never see pop up anywhere 75% of the time there are some notable exceptions This year's color i think will prove true
hecklebuckle
hecklebuckle6mo ago
I mean aren’t these predictions coming after we’ve seen a bunch of SS24 runways? It’s like predicting the superbowl winner at half time
Confuzzler
Confuzzler6mo ago
there was this tiktok that mentioned how they feel like its all a big conspiracy where tech companies pay for what colors they want and its a theory i feel like wouldnt be crazy if true!
bishopcorrigan
bishopcorrigan6mo ago
Nah I’m talking WGSN which is between 2 and 10 years out mostly
kyoko
kyoko6mo ago
they were cooking nothing with this

These predictions were made years ago they're just publishing them now
hecklebuckle
hecklebuckle6mo ago
I see
kyoko
kyoko6mo ago
That's believable in theory but what I mean is I genuinely don't see some of these colors anywhere, like in interior design or technology or fashion

Smiles6mo ago
are these even predictions or just them calling the existing trends something else how is this:
Data insights company Edited has also noted grandpa aesthetics as a key trend for next year, based on an uptick of new arrivals of items like cardigans and sweater vests. “We’re seeing a lot of straight-fit jeans rolled up so you can see the socks and the loafers,” says Corrigan. Celebrities like A$AP Rocky and Tyler the Creator are proponents of the trend: the former was spotted at an awards show in Harlem last July rocking a baroque-patterned tie and a tweed jacket with ladybird and cameo brooches.
"grandpa aesthetics" and not "quiet luxury" lmao like if we are going to use buzzword terms
kyoko
kyoko6mo ago
grandpa aesthetics and quiet luxury are not the same thing at all i would even say they go against each other
Smiles
Smiles6mo ago
ok fair picture does explain it but i feel like none of these trends are new? and i don't mean the last few months i mean like the last few years damn people be wearing straight jeans, loafers, and knits
Sal
Sal6mo ago
Fresh maybe new no
Smiles
Smiles6mo ago
i just think its misleading to pretend its a 2024 trend specifically
kyoko
kyoko6mo ago
yeah the oversized prediction is hardly anything. I think if anything we're reaching the end of the cycle and things are going to start slimming down again soon
Smiles
Smiles6mo ago
I'm still mostly doubtful but we will see you're better tuned into things than me
Sal
Sal6mo ago
I'm inclined to believe

Confuzzler
Confuzzler6mo ago
country and folk music are getting more popular. back to the mfa basics, chore coat jeans
SteezeTrain
SteezeTrain6mo ago

awburkey
awburkey6mo ago
Stripe paid for this to IPO /s
SteezeTrain
SteezeTrain6mo ago
I also kinda feel like milsurp is coming back for coats or military influenced coats
Sal
Sal6mo ago
Milsurp will never die
awburkey
awburkey6mo ago
If modern rock country died I’d be a happy man
kyoko
kyoko6mo ago
milsurp was never out to begin with
SteezeTrain
SteezeTrain6mo ago
Idk if it was out. You just saw m's,fishtails, deck jackets, ect less
Confuzzler
Confuzzler6mo ago
saw a jeremy renner music video this morning, was like oh yeah forgot he does that
SteezeTrain
SteezeTrain6mo ago
People were really into liners for a bit
Confuzzler
Confuzzler6mo ago
yeah fishtail parkas were sooo in a few years ago
SteezeTrain
SteezeTrain6mo ago
so maybe just different jackets coming back from milsurp is my thought
Confuzzler
Confuzzler6mo ago
hoping they come back!
SteezeTrain
SteezeTrain6mo ago
Big ol fishtails kind of overlap with the big cozy jacket wave
awburkey
awburkey6mo ago
Long fishtails would be fun
kyoko
kyoko6mo ago
something interesting I've noticed with a lot of runway shows this season is the idea of the commuter even with high luxury, someone who's carrying their drycleaning (auralee) or carrying two bags and an extra pair of shoes (lemaire).. funny how anyone in Lemaire would never actually be running to catch the train but it's a fantasy of urban life that many brands are trying to emulate with their styling
Michael
Michael6mo ago
ma-1 is always gonna be everywhere, m65 a bit less so but still see it a lot
Sal
Sal6mo ago
I think Melania single-handedly killed the olive fishtail for at least the next few years
Benji
Benji6mo ago
I like that given commuter culture irl has declined
SteezeTrain
SteezeTrain6mo ago
Ill just dye mine black
kyoko
kyoko6mo ago
I've never really liked a fishtail parka.. something just off to me about it
Confuzzler
Confuzzler6mo ago
give me public transit letsfuckinggo love them, but dislike the ones with like the cinching back
bishopcorrigan
bishopcorrigan6mo ago
Fishtails are always too short How am I supposed to tie the back around my legs when it’s barely below the crotch
SteezeTrain
SteezeTrain6mo ago
This is just a vibe I could see coming back. they used to be ubiquitous across streetwear and mesnwear for a few years
No description
SteezeTrain
SteezeTrain6mo ago
just more oversized this time
kyoko
kyoko6mo ago
Unfortunately I've been seeing a lot of peplums on the red carpet again... literally my least favorite fashion detail EVER. I hated them before and I hate them now.
bishopcorrigan
bishopcorrigan6mo ago
I’m predicting boleros as the next hype cut It’s the most fashion contrast to the long coats of this winter
Confuzzler
Confuzzler6mo ago
my dislike is epaulets, hate them!
circleframes
circleframes6mo ago
These and like dickeys and that sort of thing I’m seeing more if I feel like
kyoko
kyoko6mo ago
Noticed a looot of pinstripe suits recently too
circleframes
circleframes6mo ago
Pinstripe suite, vertical striped shirts. I think maybe for the same reasons you’re seeing “commuter” stuff.

I’m ready for the grandpacore, it will definitively be my year !

agree Luckily I don't live in NYC so the baggy trend is still in its prime
Pierre

I just read the article, and it honestly feels like so many buzzword terms are being thrown in our face like Quiet Luxury being equal to old money and etc... I've been seeing a lot more reels about grandpacore and it honestly feels very similar to that but like i also do feel like I still know nothing about fashion

Ngl I just think of Frugal Aesthetics criticism of stealth wealth... "Wealth so stealth it doesn't fucking exist".
