OBS Teleport/NDI source not displaying
Hey y'all!
I have a dual PC set up and up until now I've been using a capture card but I've had a couple of doxing incidents and a friend told me about OBS NDI so I'm trying to switch to that. However with both NDI and the teleport plugin, when I added my source on my streaming PC, nothing is shown despite the source being listed as an option. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?
Network wise, both PCs are connected to the same switch which is connected to the main router.

You installed NDI and OBS Teleport on both PC's?
Did you either
- Apply a filter for NDI / OBS Teleport to the stuff you want to send on the gaming PC?
- Or are you using the toolbar option for one of them to stream your entire preview from the gaming PC?
I tried ndi first and after issues am doing teleport
I've installed both on both PCs
Not using a filter, used the toolbar option
Somebody else pointed me to requiring a firewall exception so I'll be looking into that in a second
I was able to get Teleport working by disabling private firewalls on both PCs... I don#t particularly want to leave it like that Might continue using the capture card after all
You can instead add outbound / inbound exceptions in the firewall to OBS
I've tried that and still having problems with it unfortunately :( tried asking on the OBS forums on the plugin page for now
If anybody has any suggestions for how to do this that would be great odd that very few people seem to have this issue
So in OBS Teleport's menu for the gaming PC, set it to a specific port - something like 5678

Then follow the top answer on this post for adding a new firewall rule, in this case you'll want an application rule
You'll probably want to make both outbound and inbound rules for both machines
The port number doesn't have to be the same on both machines but it's easier to keep track of it that way
Also a question, is your Ethernet marked as Public or Private in the Windows settings app?
Thanks! Will follow those steps. After some testing I found that only the gaming PC needs to have its private network disabled at the moment
I'd also double check that public or private network thing I mentioned
Normally stuff on the same private network will just work, but otherwise either is set to public it'll cause issues
Yep, they're both set to private networks
Alright it's sorted! Just needed an inbound rule on the gaming pc with the specific port so much Hunter!!
