Looking to get the smoothest possible recordings/no duplicate frames
Hello there, sorry if I'm being some sort of silly goose, but I've been messing around with recordings lately using OBS and no matter what I try I get the same problem. Basically when I import the recordings into the timeline, and scan through frame by frame, sometimes I see the same frame twice. Sometimes so much though that its like 50FPS recording instead of 60. Recording using AV1 on the 4090

Required info: what’s your source that you’re recording?

Well recording at cbr is a bad idea, doing low latency but slowest quality and two pass makes no sense as a config
And there’s always the added variable of whether your game is delivering even frame pacing to be captured in the first place.
Tuning should be High Quality, single pass should be on.
Manually set a Keyframe interval of 1.

Well there’s the culprit
So it’s important to have the Stats dock on when recording. Docks -> Stats

You’re pushing the encoder too hard and thus it’s skipping half your frames, which is why you have so many duplicates
i think that was when i was testing stuff. I should probably make a new log, doing it now

Yep I think we're looking good! just tried a 4k 120 recording and I couldn't see a single dupe (apart from one where the games frametime spiked)
What's the best platform to tip you on Paypal or Ko-Fi
