Rancourt derbies
Any tips or advice on ordering from Rancourt, particularly regarding sizing? Got my eyes on these black derbies: https://www.rancourtandcompany.com/products/camden-derby-black-chromexcel . I used their sizing guide and game up with 9D or E. The E was a bit surprising, since I don’t think my feet are particularly wide. Size 9 seems on the money given my Brannock size is about 9.5. They recommend going wide for shoes built on this last. Any thoughts on that? I’ve heard chromexcel is stretchy. True?

Camden Derby - Black Chromexcel
The ideal all-weather shoe. Stroll in style and don't fret about your shoes getting wet. Horween Chromexcel is highly water resistant and the storm welt / Vibram mini-lug combination is built to take on the elements. The Derby style is considered a little more casual with it's blucher type lacing and pairs perfectly wi

Half down and up a width on Rancourt isn’t a bad way to go if you’re planning on going sockless, otherwise I would go TTS for your brannock.
Not sockless with these, but I measured my size in 2 different socks.
Do not factor into account leather on a shoe stretching, it doesn’t work that way once a shoe is lasted
Did you measure Heel To Ball on a brannock device? I would just go off that, if so
I’m a little apprehensive ordering shoes I can’t try on, tbh.
No, I used their sizing guide.
I see. If you’re apprehensive, I would suggest going off your brannock, or ponying up the extra cash and using their custom fit option
They should have a tool you can use on the website to help size. Also you can email them
Yes, I used it
More of a question for myself, but is it possible to buy the shoes that OP linked and dye the "sole" or wooden part of the shoe, so that it's ALL black? Can't find too much info via Google search as most of the responses are in regards to dying the leather part of the shoe.
There’s no wooden part of the shoe, that’s leather. And you can paint it black with shoe polish, yeah
Sounds like you should email them. Or call them! You used to be able to just call Rancourt
Oh, thank you. Do you know how I would google this or find this on Youtube? Looking to see what the process is to turn not only the "wooden"/leather sole black, but to also turn the brass black ass well.
You can make a separate thread but you’re looking for edge dressing
It’s a product shoe care companies will sell

SAPHIR | EDGE DRESSING
Saphir's Renovatrice Repair Cream is an efficient sole dressing for maintaining your shoes. The creamy consistency is very easy to control, making it much safer to use than liquid-based dyes. The thick, resin-based formula fills any holes or nicks of the edges, creating a smooth finish that will not bleed or rub off on

This is a pretty decent video for how to use edge dressing: https://youtu.be/HAFxvP4uzP0?si=eyNu420bRObMGnFA
