Usual fps without dh is 600 (when flying in creative at full speed), with dh it drops to around 60.
But this lagspike is strange to me
does the memory usage (check top right of f3) ever reach 95%+?
Just doublechecked, no, it never goes over 80
Also those garbage collections(?) that peak under 30 fps are concerning...
i've heard ZGC can fix spikes like this. try adding
-XX:+UseZGC
to your launch argumentsI think the small gc spikes got smaller, but giant lagspikes are still there
Thats waay too much ram
Try lowering it to like 10~12 gigs
If you're intensly generating DH lods that is
Otherwise like 8 gigs is fine
But I'm getting 80% memory usage when it's set to 24
minecraft performs worse with a bigger heap size allocation
for anything 512 LOD render distance or lower stick to 8gb
I don't get it, it just hits 100% and lagspikes appear
Lower your CPU load, you might be overloading your computer
It's set to Balanced
Drop it to low or minimum
Still getting spikes at minimum
Here are the mods btw, they are from the "simply optimized" pack
maybe update your drivers
wait it might be noisium as it interferes with world gen
No, still getting spikes .-.

Here is another sample with a lot of spikes at the beginning and a lot more all the way through: https://spark.lucko.me/qahiXGhEuc

In the first one I was just flying forwards generating new chunks, and in the second one I was flying around in a huge cave

I don't think so, when I didn't have it installed, it was demanding 17/18/19

Maybe because of different distant generation settings?

Should I try it instead?
Couldn't notice any difference
Bit late here, but Noisium should purely speed up world generation
Mods such as VMP and C2ME, if Simply Optimised doesn't already include them, might help

Yeah, it's a performance mod I made for world generation
Uses some techniques from Builder

Can I use java 21 with fabric though?

But does it hurt performance? Fabric docs say it's best to have java 17 for whatever reason

Oh, that's nice
I'll try it then, thanks
And since you mentioned prism, is it better than polymc?
They are pretty similar, I think prism is more actively maintained and has waaay more users
Also Prism is generally known to be a bit more trustworthy since the dev of polymc kicked a bunch of devs off the project due to politics
Because politics are the most important part of a minecraft launcher /s
