Installer not opening, only giving me option to open with notes, or other apps
I tried to download the installer and when i double click it just opens in notes with a bunch of keyboard smashing... I've never used iris or optifine before but both do this and I got no idea what to do

Try "Open with" the latest Java program you have or try launching the installer though the command line. Command: java -jar "C:\Link\to\installer.jar" (Windows) or java -jar ",,,/link/to/installer.jar" (Linux)
I'm not sure if my example command will work with Windows, but could try it in either command prompt or power shell. You may have to allow the jar file to run, if applicable.
You may have to find the java program executable file and run it with the command line.

nvm i got this to work but says i have to run mincract at least one in the official launcer and i have? I dont know why it says this
im on 1.20.4 of mc and the error is saying i need to rujn 1.20.1 at least once in the launcher
so I ran 1.20.1, that let me download iris but then i get stuck on the "completed!" screen (nothings been downloaded) i get an error saying make sure mc is closed, and it is so im still lost

but pretty much anything works as long as it has that Iris tag
also this error lol but this pc was quite literally made this week so im not sure if i need to do this but they should be ok for now right?

thank ya! I wanted to use kappa shader i like how it looks but really anything with pretty water, lighting, and fluffier leaves would be good
I personally go with Complementary Unbound
there’s auto generated normals and coated textures settings in materials > iPBR which I always turn on
