It's a one time grant of 5 dollars
That changed, right? recently it was different
Yea, it changed in August 2022
2023*
oh yea sorry
Companies like railway always have the same strategy, I'm not complaining, but I find it curious
Yea, prioritize growing userbase at the cost of revenue until your userbase is big enough to where you can profit
youtube's now cashing in on users too, that's why they're at war with adblockers
Once they have enough users, they leave all the plans free forever, as Heroku did, I feel that it is a big mistake, it costs them absolutely nothing to leave free services, that are very basic, that maintains a line of users and generates interactions , but hey, I'm not the owner so I'll have to find an alternative for when I run out of the 5 USD.
That seems very different to me, YouTube was born and will always be free, it is a question of principles, people are not going to let it become paid, there are many more programmers willing to beat them than Google programmers
keep in mind that the hobby plan is 5$ monthly for the entire account, not per service like how heroku does it, you also get 5$ to be used towards usage every month on hobby (does not roll over)
Yes, globally what it costs is insignificant, you are right, but hey, in my country 5 dollars is what it is worth to pay for my internet hahahaha
