are Levi's 505 higher rise then the 501?
I think the title pretty much says it all, but I'm looking to pick up a pair of vintage Levi's and although I'm biased towards button fly, aren't someone mentioned 505 as a higher rise?

Not at all. They're roughly the same currently. A few decades ago 501s were slightly higher but it's neglible.
When the jeans were made will have a bigger impact on how high the rise than 501 vs 505 since Levi’s tends to update them based on trends. The best thing to do is to get measurements of the rise from the seller.
