Can't install Iris

I've been trying to install Iris (for mc 1.20.4) for a few days now and every time I try to execute the file the Java Virtual Machine Launcher will pop up and say "A Java Exception has occurred.". I', not super knowledgeable about java installs, but I try to keep mine updated. I keep seeing people say you need to have Java 17 for run modifiers after 1.16 or so, and I've run optifine and Iris, so I believe I'm using that version. Nothing changes no matter what I do, I've update Java, uninstalled and re-installed, downloaded jarfix from the FAQ, updated sodium, every suggestion I could find online. Does anyone know how to help and fix this problem?
