Idea for Table-UI
Hi 🙂 I have an idea that would improve the UI: Have all columns unselected by default for (large) tables.
I currently have a table with ~200 columns and 300 entries and it takes a while to load and unselect columns. If I would keep all columns selected, filtering would basically be impossible.
If other users prefer to have the columns pre-selected, maybe a user-setting could provide customizability? Basically just a boolean that asks wether colums should be un/pre-selected.

Hello. Xata Designer here. I assume by "selected" you mean "visible"? I think because tables start small, and eventually get large we'd prefer to keep the current format. As you've likely noticed, we do keep the toggles saved per computer, so once you make those settings, they stick around. I think if we disabled the columns by default more users would need to interact with the toggles.
That said there might be other ways we can make this toggling more speedy though.
yes I mean "visible". Sometimes, the toggles just refresh without any reason and everything is selected again. An example for this is when switching the branch and back.
Ah. That sounds frustrating. Branches can have different columns. Let me think if there's an easy way for us to solve for that.
