Some textures look flat and lack dimming compared to the original game
Hello.
I am using iris for the first time and sorry if I missed some maybe obvious things. So as title says, the textures looks really weird (screenshots attached).
At first, I tried several shaders (BSL and Complementary Reimagined) and notice that they looks a bit not like it was before. Then I disable shaders and compare game without mods and iris version. Some textures don't have dimming, so they lack some depth if I may say so.
Is that normal behavior? Or can I fix it somehow?

yea that's a sodium bug
It's not a bug
Vanilla's lighting here is just wrong
Sodium fixes it
It was weird for me at first but nowadays Vanilla looks ugly to me
oh
I guess we just prefer it this way due to variation
In short this behavior is intended when using sodium(iris depends on it) it’s a fix from vanilla. Vanilla applies a full blocks shader over path blocks because they are one pixel lower
It looks weird without this dimming. Anyway I prefer vanilla and I think it look better this way.
So, is it possible to configure this behaviour so that it works vanilla way? Also it's behaviour applies not only to paths block, it also present in other blocks as well (like fences), but some not so noticeable.
It’s not configurable no
It's frustrating a bit. Thank you for answer.

Sodium Shadowy Path Blocks - Minecraft Mod
Reintroduces vanilla-like smooth lighting to non-full blocks (e.g. dirt paths and how they have dark shading when directly next to a full block) when using Sodium.
Don’t think it’s updating much anymore
Oh yeah I see
Well if you play on a older version you can try it :)
My joy did not last long 😅
I actually installed iris because it was available for newer versions of minecraft. So going back to older versions is kind of controversial.
I wouldn't advise you to do so.
I just meant if you were on older versions
If that is not the case, I think their is currently no fix.
Best thing I could think of is to just make pathway texture darker :)
Yeah, understood. Thank you! For now I play a bit as it is. Probably, I will get used to it.
