overcoat advice
Hi guys,
I’ve been hunting for a good overcoat for a while. I haven’t found anything in my budget (under $1k) that I absolutely love. I’ve attached a few pictures and wanted y’all’s thoughts on how it looked/fit. I’ve loved how overcoats look in movies where it elevates outfits and really shapes the persons silhouette perfectly but I can’t seem to recreate this in person. I’ve attached a few pictures of things I’ve tried and kinda liked. I loved the blue Neimann Marcus one but it’s 1500 so I hesitated on buying it. For contrast the gray Zara one is 120 and the green rodd and Gunn is 500. I might get it if I find nothing that I love but even this piece is only like a 9/10 for me. If you guys have any suggestions for where I should check out overcoats please let me know as well.

Are there any reference images from movies that you can share, to help guide the look you're going for? Because some of these are classic topcoats, but the first pic is moreso a mac coat/car coat.
I don’t have any on hand but let me search online for some and get back to you. Thank you for the help
These are not movies but from Pinterest
I found them nice
I don’t think I’m as tall as these models so it might not look the same (I’m 5’11)
Ah, these all have some sort of oversized fit in the body / arms (which none of the ones you tried on seem to achieve)
Almost all of them have some sort of drop shoulder type fit, the're also really long
I'm not sure if these are Korean models, but perhaps some korean brands might achieve this sort of fit? Uniqlo might be a good place to look. Some of there collections have a more contemporary fit
I’ll check them out online. They have no stores in my area sadly
And you’re right I like that drop shoulder fit quite a lot
Instead of a more boxy shoulder

what do you think of this product?
the navy one looks pretty decent
This looks closer to what you want, only thing is the length might not be long enough to get that fit (these jackets seem to go almost a foot past the knee)
you might have to try +1 size from your normal size
Take a look at spier and mackay. They have some really nice looking ones and they are well under your price point

Spier and mackay has the best value imo. If your budget is USD look at cordings or brooks brothers.
I highly recommend getting a coat that falls below the knee.

I would check out SEH Kelly. Note you may have to size up depending of you want to layer the coat over blazers.
