Hey @artursrosa Sorry to hear that! What exactly is the issue?
Maybe you can record a video of the issue?
If you can have the UE output log visible that would be great as well๐
Thanks for the reply. I just don't even know how to start. Whatever I try, it does nothing. I tried "New tool", I tried several types of Draw Mode, but I can't draw anything. I tried it on Dash's terrain, on a normal terrain, on a primitive. I just don't have a starting point for it... I'm sure I'm being stupid...
Hard to know exactly what is your issue, are you able to record some videos where you do stuff that does not work?
See, for me it is as easy as this, but if it does not work for you, we will of course help you solve it
I see I wasn't clear, sorry about that. I was talking literally about the "Curve Tool":
Normal curves I can make, that's easy.
the curve tool basically let's you choose some settings before you start drawing, but after you start it is using the same process in the backend as using the action "Curve" directly
Ah I see, thanks! I thought it was another curve creation method. My bad. Thanks!
No worries!
Perhaps naming it "Curve Settings" would be more obvious for noobs? ๐
Maybe not, I see there's also a "Start Drawing" button, so in practice that's another way to reach the same thing as in "Curve"
Now that I know it, it seems so obvious... ๐ I feel stupid.
Yee it could maybe need a new name ๐
But let me try to explain our "logic/structure"
We develop and ship a bunch of tools that open up in floating panels just like the curve tool or Surface Scatter, sometimes users may not need/want to mess with the settings and just use the defaults, then we created Actions which is a quick and easy way of using the tool directly instead of having to even see the full tools panel. And a curve is a prime example of that, most of the time users just want to create a simple curve then they can use the Curve Action to just draw instantly and if they want to create a more advanced curve (i.e. adjusting some settings before starting to draw) they can open the full tool, choose their settings and then start to draw
Does this make sense? You are not stupid at all, we are absolutely not the best at UI/UX so far
So getting honest feedback like this is great!
Yes, that makes total sense. Hide the complexity when you don't really need it, and show it when you need it. That's a great approach. I guess I'm just not used to have things being made easy for the users in UE. ๐
hehe nobody are, it is more or less the reason why Dash exists, to make UE easier and faster to work with ๐
Thanks. And btw you are doing a great job all around, both in the tool and here in Discord. Kudos!
Thanks for saying that! ๐
