Can shortened coat sleeves generally be lengthened back by a bit?
I have a balmacaan coat that I had its sleeves shortened a while ago, but I’m starting to feel that they’re a tad bit too short. The sleeves just about cover my wrist when my arms are down, but ride up more than I’d prefer when I raise my arms. I think I would like the sleeves to extend about an inch and half past my wrist. Like covering a third or half of the back of my hand.
When tailors shorten sleeves, is it common practice to leave enough fabric and lining so that the sleeves can be lengthened back by a bit (like an 1.5 inch or less)? Not a big deal if not, but I was curious if it’s possible to lengthen them a little bit.
