Jamieson’s of Shetland sizing
Does anyone have firsthand experience with their shetland sweaters? Looking at the measurements they seem to run small.
I’m 177cm, 65kg, 96cm chest size. Usually I wear M sweaters, but according to their chart, size L seems the best.
(Although, on End’s website different measurements belong to different colours, models of similar size wear them from M to XL looking the same, which makes me insecure about the proper sizing.)

Thanks! I suck at searching on Discord’s mobile app. Searched here and in the brands section, got zero results. I must be doing something wrong
Anyway, consensus in the other thread seems to be sizing up 1 size from usual sweater size
No problem, happy to help out. I just remembered that it came up before and looked for it as I don't have experience with the sizing myself. But from everything I've read around here sizing up definitely seems like the move!
I think they’re unisex sized so I ended up sizing up 3x for a roomy fit
Hmm, so say from M to XXL?
Do you think going from M to L would not enough for a regular fit? I’m hesitating between sizing up 1/2. Up until your comment, I thought sizing up 1 should be enough 🙂
For some reason, searching in the channels that start with a '#' seems to be the only way to do a full search, at least on mobile
If you search in the speech-bubble channels, it only looks for exact matches in thread titles
It depends on what you consider a regular fit. For me tts was skin tight. 1 up would have been slim. 2 up may have been ok, but I like shetlands to fit roomy
Extensive experience: slim fit so you usually need to size up, some retailers do this for you some don’t, so always check the body measurements, which you can compare to the measurements on the jamiesons knitwear site to figure out what size you’re actually looking at
I can fit in basically any size from 42-48 so also know that they do stretch out when you actually put them on, although obviously they will be snug but not like egregious (imo)
I knew you were the person to call
Threw up the bat symbol but it’s a sheep
They run insanely small so check the measurements on the size charts rather than the tag size
END list them differently than the tag size for example. The XXL from END is a Jamieson's tag size XXXL
Thanks all, I ended up buying a size L (well, there was no XL in the colour I wanted anyway, so no choice really). The measurements in the chart are similar to my other sweaters, so I hope it will fit well
@narwhal Can I ask what size is on the tag of your sweater? Just out of curiosity, because I received mine which has XL on the tag size, said 42” on the attached paper tag (which on their website is an aka for L), and END. listed it an an L, too. So I’m a bit confused, not that it matters, I’m just curious.
(I think it fits me well, arms could be 1-2cm longer)
I won't try to solve this shetland mystery, but I will share my tale so that others may better choose
I first ordered what end called a 42 (L)
I typically wear M to L. This was tight everywhere, not just small; the fit was slim
The Jamieson's tag is marked XL
Measures 21" p2p
Then I orered what end called a 46 (XXL)
Measures 23" p2p
Seems to fit less slim overall
Jamiesons tag is marked XXL
Here's the Jamiesons tagged XL on top of the XXL (end 42 [L] on end 46[XXL])
The much shorter answer is it sounds like you have what was my first order, assuming it measures about 21" p2p
Wow, this just got even weirder, with the XXL matching between tag size and End. size, unlike the other sizes
But yes, I got what you ordered first. I usually am between S/M, M in sweaters. This is how the End. size L fits on me:
I think that's a nice fit on you
I assume you have long arms and are just used to sleeves being a little short on ya
That all said, here's end's sizing, which seems accurate, if I had trusted it the first time
Thanks, appreciate it!
if you're intersted in a red one in the same size let me know 😁
(I was wondering if XL wouldn’t be better, actually. Maybe I’m just used to my roomier Aran sweater, though. Too bad I don’t have the opportunity to try these on in person.)
Haha, OK. Are you in the US, tho? I’m in the EU. Not that I immediately want to buy another one, but…
I think you could size up, but what you have is a more traditional fit and it looks good on you
I was mostly kidding but yeah, I'm in the US
