DH 2.0 Alpha, 1.20.2. (long explanation, please read the full post below.)
Some textures on Graphics: Fancy / Fabolous ! have some transparent pixels (such as holes in tree leaves), where otherwise on Graphics: Fast, the transparent pixels turn to black. It seems that even while using Graphics: Fancy / Fabolous!, textures such as tree leaves are still LOD'd (made lower resolution) using Graphics: Fast options, so the leaves apear darker on fake chunks than real, vanilla chunks.
Image explanation: There's two birch trees in the middle of the picture.
The tree that is closer to the player, is in a real chunk. It is visible that the fake chunk tree is darker; this is much more visible when you move back a few blocks and the front tree switches to being a fake chunk (both are now darker than birch trees in real chunks), and while being zoomed out.
If this is a bit confusing, please read this again.
If it is still confusing, then ask me here.

Note: this is just what I think it might be, it might just be a lighting issue, or something different.
I'm using an rx 5600xt, ryzen 7 3800x with compatible mods.
What you mean is that when the graphics are on fancy, the LOD leaves are too bright?
no they're too dark

I don't think I can do that, I'm not really good with that stuff

I'm using fabolously optimized which has this type of feature
When I do fast it still has fancy leaves
But this definitely needs to be replicated first

Both still have the lod trees darker
I think this is a real issue
Those bushy leaves do make the leaves look brighter so its not a perfect compairison
check my original image though
no bushy leaves there
Yeah but I meant the one chris sent
On the original one the leaves are indeed too dark

not at all
Blendium adds blending and shaderpack presets for Iris
It depends on Sodium for the blending though
On your original question though, I'm not sure. I haven't tried Fabulously Optimized myself but I can say DH2 works really well on Fabric/Quilt 1.20.1 in big modpacks.
My modpack contains most of the mods FO has so that should be pretty accurate

You need the latest version of Iris from the repository, or the Iris Discord server
Probably should add that info to the shader compat Gist
Added it to the shader compat Gist (see pins in #general)
