Removing belt loops from suit trousers?

I’m shopping for suits secondhand, and as someone with a pronounced gut, I really hate wearing belts, especially with tailoring. I have a seam ripper, and am comfortable using it, but am wondering if removing belt loops tends to ‘work out’ for trousers after the fact.

(Also, I have no idea how to get rid of that little belt keeper thing)

Yes, it's possible.

Although it might reveal the original (usually darker) tone of the trouser underneath the loop, if that matters/applies to you.

People say it's fine. Hopefully enough fabric is removed to be turned into side adjusters, if you like and it's possible.

If there’s not enough fabric from the hem to make side adjusters, you can just have some suspender buttons added. The only downside to doing this is you won’t have a proper extended waist band but that’s nbd
