Trying to use CSS in GoDaddy
I have to use Godaddy for the time being for a few sites. Aside from all of the common complaints with their interface, I've yet to find a way to simply upload custom HTML/CSS except for one option.
Through their templates, you can add sections which appear to be adding new div elements to your pages. You have the option to add an HTML section, but that is extremely limiting, ruins much of your formatting, and still doesn't seem to let you do anything as far as CSS. I can use style tags within HTML and that's about it.
Until I can convince my client to upgrade to a better system, does anyone know of an option through Godaddy to just upload HTML/CSS directly, or at least a way to get more customization through their existing interface so I'm not stuck with their templates?

From my really limited experience with GoDaddy searching this exact issue, I think I ended up finding that it is not possible to add CSS to a GoDaddy website
Which is bonkers to me
Oh apparently this says you can? https://www.godaddy.com/help/add-html-or-custom-code-to-my-site-27252
GoDaddy - Add HTML or custom code to my site
How to add HTML, CSS, or JavaScript to your site.
But seems like you need to have
Websites + Marketing
? Is that a package?Godaddy has a lot of redundancy in their pages with different names. The websites + marketing section is one of them. It seems to be where you find your purchased products, but you also have a separate hyperlink for "my products", then two or three other pages/links that keep sending you in circles back to that page.
The instructions in that link are mostly correct, but the code section it lets you add only seems to work for HTML and not CSS. I'm not experienced enough in javascript to test that.
The section claims it works with CSS and js, though.
Yea I have no idea. GoDaddy is a pain haha
Can you just avoid the Custom builder and upload html/css via ftp?
If the hosting is seperate you should be able to. I have not had to deal with their services (thank god) for awhile now though.
Ohh I forgot about that. Yea, that might definitely be an option but it's more involved
I'm unaware if this is an option but that would be great. My web dev class we used filezilla to upload to the college servers, but I haven't found a way to do something similar in Godaddy.
Do you have access to the hosting service it self? Then you should be able to create an ftp account or find the info.
I'm not sure how to go about this. Still learning the ins and outs of the back end.
It's not backend it's hosting/devops 🥲
The most experience I have is an introductory class for HTML/CSS and a little bit of js. Currently working on financial aid stuff to get back into school and see what classes I'm able to take next.
Well you login and start looking around.
It's fair to assume I'm still mostly a novice with a lot of ambition.
That's how I find things
I think I may have found what you're talking about, and if this is it then the next issue may be that we didn't pay for the right service, explaining why I couldn't find the option in the first place. https://www.godaddy.com/help/what-is-ftp-19304
Yea that would be the main issue, its based on what services.
Lots of these companies have dumbed down their page builder services too, making it even harder to do custom work with it.
I was definitely so frustrated with the restrictive page builder and templates I completely overlooked that we may not have hosting. I'll check on that when I get back to work. Thank you very much for your insight.
Did you see my recommendation in #general? I've had a great exp with Ionos
Like they have refunded charges, helped with lots of questions about products, even when I switched to VPS and bought 1$ standard hosting just for the domain renewel.. .they were like "oh sure you can do that lol"
Pointed my domain to my vps and canceled the standard LOL
I made note of it and it'll be the first I try for my next project. I'm still stuck with Godaddy for the time being.
