Camelhair Overcoat Brands? <$1000 CAD
What are some good brands to look for in vintage/new camelhair overcoats? On my radar are: ralph lauren, o'connells, ben silver.

Under $1000 you basically have to be looking at used, nothing thats new will be any good. Only thing I'd add to your list of makers would be Brooks Brothers and J. Press, otherwise I'd just recommend also looking for coats +/- 2 sizes, since vintage camel coats (particularly camel polo coats) run big usually (obv. know your measurements etc. etc.)
used is fine
have come across these brands as well: Chipp, DeGemmis of Glastonbury, Woodhouse Lynch.
... if anyone wants to give their 2 cents on those brands
Fairly certain that they're all either independent menswear shops or dept. store brands, should be fine quality but probably not the best
Far better than what you'd get now at similar outfits, anyways
hmm yea brooks brothers are 1800 new. Have you worn one of these before?
I have a vintage mainline Brooks camelhair polo coat, probably late 80s or early 90s, incredibly well made
I have handled contemporary PRL and vintage polo university club (a diffusion brand of PRL) and both were also well made, although no as well made as my own
I will say that patience is a virtue when looking for old camel coats, good ones generally pop up on ebay every couple weeks or so
you just have to wait it out for one in your size and in good shape
unfortunately I don't have patience. I will try though as it saves you lots of money for clothing lol
(moth damage is pretty common on camel, moreso than lambswool in my experience, so don't let some discourage you)
I guess Chipp is a subsidiary or some such of J press
I completely forgot, yeah, they were I think supposed to target a more yuppie audience
so probably same quality as J press, yes?
most likely
where did you find your vintage BB camel coat?
ebay, definitely the best place for them as well, other marketplaces they don't seem to pop up much
Field Brothers is the label on the one I own.
Anthology makes a camelhair overcoat that seems to be good quality. Would love anyone's two cents on this brand as well
Oh my bad, mine is cashmere not camel.
Anyways honestly these things pop up on ebay for like $100 so if you like its looks, get it. Don't worry that much about quality; anything that still looks good x years later and is made out of 100% camel is probably made decently well.
Suitsupply has got you covered. Will be a bit above your budget though at 1279 cad
Oh and RTW 1149 cad
