What are your suggestions for building connections with chip manufacturers? Usually we being designers get chips from suppliers like Digikey or Mouser and do not have exact idea on the life of the chip. I feel this is crucial while startups design new products by investing a lot of time and limited money. Going for another redesign cycle just because a chip is unavailable isn't uncommon and good it s avoided. https://www.globalspec.com/events/eventdetails?eventid=4353&evtsrc=SiemensIndustrySoftw%5F231030%5FInv1&cid=webinar#&loginOk=1

To build connections with chip manufacturers, actively network at industry events, initiate direct communication expressing genuine interest, utilize professional platforms like LinkedIn, and demonstrate expertise and commitment through consistent follow-ups and, if possible, site visits. This few steps can be very helpful, as for me i find Linkedin very good where i can talk to some of their employee when designing products

What do you think we can do in this server to improve the collaboration aspect? When we launch I'm hoping to bring a bunch of vendor personnel in, and I'd be interested in hearing what we could do in Discord to make everyone's lives easier. Thoughts?

@techielew i guess in my point of view sharing ideas experiences and projects will be helpful, and it should also be in a sub topical format where one can easily go and check and navigate if having any issue in any field

we just created a server search function that should help with that; we'll be adding it to a channel soon

Well, partnering with Chip manufacturers usually ends with partnering with Distributor representatives. It almost ALWAYS involves MAKING UP annual volumes, project timing, etc. It is sometimes painful. I tell to myself sometimes that the world needs to be deceived... @techielew What do you think about that?
