Volume direct access

Is there a way to access the data of a volume? I tried detaching the volume from its original service and mounting it on Brody's file browser service, but it shows empty
Solution:
By default, the storage location is set to the storage subdirectory in the root of the volume, but by setting a service variable USE_VOLUME_ROOT to 1 you can opt to use the root of the volume as the storage location instead

Why not make it the root by default? :p

good question, file browser has an document database that is stored on disk in an appdata folder, if the root was the default location you would also see this appdata folder and the user could mess stuff up

seeing an appdata and a lost+found folder also doesnt look too nice if you are using this template as an actual storage platform and not just to access your volumes data

Is there a way to edit file permissions? @Brody

Had an issue with said permissions, found a workaround but still

chmod works
Brody
Brodyβ€’14mo ago
the volume is mounted as root, so if you run your app as non-root you will run into permission issues

How do I get a shell access in order to chmod?
Adam
Adamβ€’14mo ago
You can't. You'll have to add the chmod command to your start command or somehow run it after your app has deployed
