to run mods with shaders you have to have iris and sodium installed as fabric mods, not a standalone profile.
you can rerun the iris installer with the "fabric install" option selected
I used the Iris/Sodium installer and used the "Fabric install" option. I did this on a clean Minecraft v1.20.2 install. I can load the vanilla game with a shader pack, but the game crashes when I try to use any Fabric mods.
For example, Xaero's World Map and Xaero's Minimap both give me the error, "Incompatible mods found! Mod 'Xaero's Minimap' (xaerominimap) 23.8.3 requires version 0.43.1 or later of fabric-api, which is missing!" According to the Minecraft launcher, it appears I'm using Fabric Loader v0.14.23.
So, it appears the Iris/Sodium installer installed a very old version of Fabric. Can I just install the latest version of the Fabric loader, or will this break Iris/Sodium?
you need Fabric API
Modrinth
Fabric API - Minecraft Mod
Lightweight and modular API providing common hooks and intercompatibility measures utilized by mods using the Fabric toolchain.
I'm confused. Isn't that what the Iris/Sodium installer was supposed to install when I used the "fabric install" option?
no, it installed fabric loader and put iris and sodium in the mods folder
fabric api is a mod
Ah. Then, do I just download Fabric API and toss it in the mods folder with the others?
yes
Oh, cool. Let me try that quick!
Ah, great. Thanks! That got the game running. I also needed to add the Mod Menu mod. 🙂
yeah very good mod. Love it for changing configs
