it depends on how slim the shirt ends up being
i have to get a lot my shirts darted the only time ive had issues with darts was when they were done and made the shirt too slim. otherwise it doesn't restrict my movement at all - i might even argue that they make the shirts more comfortable - and its nice not having excess fabric billowing around my midsection and adding bulk under a jacket or sweater if i'm layering. of course everyone is shaped differently and has different preferences when it comes to how they like their clothes to fit
