Hair care advice? Hair looks dull. What can I do?

So, some background. I’m a 29M with blonde hair. It’s on the fine side, and probably getting worse due to some thinning. Most of my thinning is in the front with some minor recession. I keep things short and then kind of brush it to the side. My routine is: Shampoo and conditioner daily, which is R+Co hydrating line. I then blow dry it on medium/low heat and style with Aveda Men’s Performance Clay. This gives me decent results, but my hair is also very matte/dull looking. This may be because of the thinning, the properties of the clay paste, the shampoo daily, or all of the above. I guess I’m just looking for advice on having less dull looking hair. I don’t want to shampoo daily, but because I have fine and thin hair, things get greasy and clump up faster. Also, the clay paste doesn’t wash out well with just water, and using only conditioner doesn’t seem much better.

I would try to shampoo less often, maybe once or twice a week. Maybe get a styling cream that washes out with only water. My hair also looks dull the day after washiing with shampoo, and looks and feels best three or four days afterwards.

shampoo daily is for sure the reason My hair got much more healthy when I started washing it less slow it down step by step though or it'll be greasy for a little bit So like once every 2 days then 3 days then 4 days for mid length hair I find 4 days to be a good balance personally

How does this work with styling cream/clay though? I feel like my hair gets clumpy and tacky, which makes it harder to style.

I use a product (uppercut deluxe pomade) that washes out easily

You can look at leave in blow dry treatments that help with shine and texture. I use Kevin Murphy Thick Again and Ever Lift when I blow dry after washing. There are other leave ins that are more targeted to what you’re going after though Cut down on the shampooing unless you’re out sweating your whole scalp everyday
