go into video settings -> shader packs and click on shaderpacks folder. That is where your .minecraft directory is if you want to completely remove the sodium and iris profile delete it in the versions folder

that's weird oh well, you don't need to uninstall the standalone version. Just put the fabric mods in your mods folder after running the fabric installer and launch fabric from the launcher

SoupkitchnOP•14mo ago
oh right? that'll still work?
Slooshie
Slooshie•14mo ago
yes

SoupkitchnOP•14mo ago
okay, and I'm assuming this is my mods folder?

Slooshie•14mo ago
errr no I have no idea what is wrong with your game directory
Soupkitchn
SoupkitchnOP•14mo ago
me neither. I know it says MACOSX but that is the only folder that contains any mods in my minecraft installation so I figure that has to be the mod folder my game is using
Slooshie
Slooshie•14mo ago
you ran fabric once without mods right? because it needs to do that to generate a mods folder
Soupkitchn
SoupkitchnOP•14mo ago
oh sorry, is this the folder in question?

Slooshie
Slooshie•14mo ago
no it should just be named mods inside the main folder
Soupkitchn
SoupkitchnOP•14mo ago
alright I don't have that folder yet then
Soupkitchn
SoupkitchnOP•14mo ago

yeah I just recommend reinstalling the launcher or using a third-party launcher like Prism
Soupkitchn
SoupkitchnOP•14mo ago
if I reinstall the launcher is there a way to detect my current minecraft installation?
Slooshie
Slooshie•14mo ago
your current directory seems fucked up so that's why you should reinstall or pick a third-party launcher I would go with option 2

SoupkitchnOP•14mo ago
so what you mean is I should uninstall anything minecraft related and start over?
Slooshie
Slooshie•14mo ago
if you don't want to get another launcher then yeah, but backup the stuff you want to keep like saves

Soupkitchn
SoupkitchnOP•14mo ago

douira
douira•14mo ago

SoupkitchnOP•14mo ago
okay so even though my game is installed on my G:drive installing fabric in .minecraft on my C drive has added this?

Soupkitchn
SoupkitchnOP•14mo ago

I don't think so? I uninstalled minecraft and the launcher and reinstalled both, made sure to delete anything left over beforehand so it really is a fresh install Everything seems to work now? mods work, iris and shaders work the iris and sodium installations are in both the macosx folder and the mods folder? I'm just not gonna question that and assume that's what's meant t ohappen many thanks to all of you for your help at this late hour and your patience haha 😅
