Very low fps when using shaders with iris [RESOLVED]
Whenever I use any shader my fps is about 16-25. Which is extremally low in comparison to me running minecraft 165 fps+ and rtx quite high as well.
My specs:
RTX 4060
13th gen core i7
32 gb of ram
What I've tried:
- Forcing minecraft to use my gpu
- Updating my drivers
- Allowing more ram
- Pray
- Try different shaders
- Lowering render distance, change minecraft settings, etc.
Thanks in advance!
(also sorry if I used the wrong tag)

hi,
first of: 4gb of ram is more than enough and allocating more could cause issue .
then an F3 screenshot, with the latest.log file and a list of mods while be really useful to help you further 😎
How to get a log file:
Game logs can be found in the
logs
sub-directory in .minecraft on clients, or the logs
sub-folder of the server directory for servers. We're probably interested in the file named latest.log
, which you can drag and drop into Discord.Tag requested by lord_adorable
Ok, ill get that for u later.
Here is the f3 screenshot, sorry for the long wait!
It says fabric, but its iris with the fabric installer
only one mod is being used currently which is a proximity vc mod
yup there is your issues. Minecaft is running on your intel igpu.
open nvidia Control Panel → Manage 3D Settings → Program Settings → Click Add then browse for javaw.exe (could be called OpenJDK Platform binary) → then select prefered GPU to high-perforamce NVIDIA Processor and that should be good to go.
Make sure to close the game before :haha_yes:
Ok cool, I'll try that.
Is it this one?
yep
alright
I can't find the "high performance processor" option
okay so. you're on a desktop then right?
Yes
set your power settings to high performance. to do that open settings on windows → system → Power → in power mode select "best performance"
Alright I set it to best performance, I'll test it out
Still no difference
okay. where is connected your monitor?
wdym
where is the cable connecting your monitor plug to? on the motherboard or your GPU?
Here uh lemme check
Im not sure, its just plugged into display port
is it pluged in the red area (GPU) or above (motherboard)?
ABove, so the motherboard
Should i plug it into the gpu?
yep
alright
it a simple mistake when installing a PC. but one that has lot of consequence as you have expereinced.
Ah ok, makes sense. Does it matter which place I plug it in?
nah that dosen't make any difference ^^
Ok this makes a lot more sense now. Cause now I got a notification that I can set up g sync.
Alright I'll test out minecraft
oop
thats new
I guess I gotta update my drivers
@Lord Adorable it will be a bit till I can startup minecraft again. Now I'm actually getting notified my driver is out of date, so I gotta download the latest one.
i was expecting that. no worries everting is in order :haha_yes:
