Java Core Dump
For a long time, I've been trying to move over to ubuntu for my server however everytime I run a server in ubuntu I get a java runtime error and a core dump. The server is running on beta 1.7.3 with uberbukkit, but this has happened before with even the newer versions. The server runs fine and then suddenly this error gets spit out https://mclo.gs/V10Bjbj

Well minecraft 1.7.3 doesn't use Java 18, so that'd be an issue.
No minecraft version "prefers" Java 18.
Yeah I was about to mention too to try downgrading your java version.
you should use either java 8, java 7 or java 6 (i think beta supported that one)
Try using pterodactyl panel, it allows you to change java versions
anything lets you do that
yes but more easily
its considerably easier to change java version than installing pterodactyl
✅
as you say
installing pterodactyl is the biggest pain in the arse to do, installing a different java version is like command and maybe a modification of the start script or what its called when you change where the
java
command takes you toit's not that hard to install pterodactyl
just follow documentation
tbh I feel like every developer on their first-ever ptero install has messed smth up and had an issue; it's like an introduction 😅
it took me hours and hours to install ptero and had to constantly gp back and forth with the ptero discord just to get it to work
and i was following the documentation but i know fuck all abput linux
Dinosuar version roaaar
Is there a special reason to use such an old mc version?
pterodactyl is easy lol
not for complete beginners
and certainly not easier than switching java version.
there's an autoinstaller out there for it, works (relatively) perfectly fine
...
you also get no support from the official one
true
but learning how to install something on linux, is a skill
which is why I think people should try installing PT on ubuntu
and as they say, if you cant figure out how to set it up correctly, its not a software you should be trying to setup yourself and use in production
especially since you can still run gnome or kde on it
sure but dont say its easier than switching java version or as easy
i didn't say it was easier than that, I just said it was easy
you replied to my message where i said its considerably easier to switch java versions than installing pterodactyl so it was kinda implied /shrug/
touchè i guess
^
it still happens on java 8 :/
Java core dumps are usually an error inside the Java install itself or hardware.
