Barbour Bedale Fit

Brown is 40, olive is 38. Both were comfortable, so I’m having trouble choosing one or the other. 38 looks a little cleaner to me but not sure if 40 is more the intended fit. What do y’all think?

Definitely the 40 imo, you’ll want it a little oversized to layer and move around in and the 38 looks like it’s pulling in the armpit with the layer you have under it but that may just be a trick of the light. Both fit fine, but I think for the sake of wearability and utility the larger is the way to go

40. Save yourself some money and buy from cox the saddler Also, seems like you’re taller and may want to consider a beaufort over bedale

Second buying from cox, much better prices and import shipping is quick

importing barbour from UK is cheaper than buying domestic?

By a significant amount. I don’t think customs are triggered until you get above 600 (might be 800). eBay is also a great resource - I’ve bought a couple for $100.

Yeah the 38 was a little snug in the chest when zipped, where the 40 still had room, so I’m gonna go for the larger size. Planning on it! I tried not to take up the sales folks time at the Orvis where I tried these on, though they really wanted to help. It’s like $200 savings from Cox

I tried a Beaufort and was surprised how much I liked it, but I’m only 5’9” so i was a little more comfortable in the Bedale

I am also 5'9" and I have all the lengths (bedale, beaufort, border & northumbria) and honestly I prefer the beaufort to the bedale for day to day the bedale is nice but the sweater cuffs are a bit annoying when layered up and the game pocket is usefull as well plus it keeps my thighs dry in the rain, as does the border

Trying on I thought the cuffs were comfy, but I can see that. Was primarily considering the length differences I guess. I was kinda torn on colors though, so a Beaufort may still be in my future

yeah, the sweater cuffs are great when im just pulling it on to run out but when im putting a full fit together its a little annoying im also insane though so take it with a grain of salt my barbours are all navy except for my northumbria and durham which are olive (and the classic sylkoil instead of the thornproof) and i quite like them although if i could i think id rather have gotten the sage

While I’m here, I did find a used option online from a seller who says he bought new and only wore it about 20 times. Does this wear look about right? Ie. if I buy new and mine looks like this after 20 wears I’d be fine saving my money and getting one that’s broken in already

the front looks fine but id be suspicious since it seems like the corduroy collar and back panels have some pretty good wear more than 20 times

Got it. Appreciate you taking a look. It’s $150 so not enough of a deal to beat new from Cox

yeah cox is just unbeatable honestly especially considering you basically get it at face because you get a vat discount of 20%, and the pound is 20% over USD so theres very little math

Yeah for 100 it’s a solid deal but it needs to be rewaxed.
