Face skins messed up when using iris/sodium
Hello, im looking for some advice using iris and sodium.
When used, it seems face skins aren't rendered correctly (see screenshot with a NPC from citizens, and a player) im a little confused as to what is causing this thanks ❤️

but then, when i APPLY a shader, the faces come back
Are you using any mods that modify skins? Please send a game log so we can check it for anything that might cause this
How to get a log file:
Game logs can be found in the
logs
sub-directory in .minecraft on clients, or the logs
sub-folder of the server directory for servers. We're probably interested in the file named latest.log

thanks for the reply, no mods no. I use other mods but they're disabled with while this bug appears.
seems the skin of the face goes to the bottom of the cube
first of all, you should update sodium and iris and see if the issue persists
also try other servers/normal player models to see if this is a server specific issue
okay so not happening in other servers like hypixel.
Joining my own server (bungee network) the issue isn't present in the hub, but is present in my parkour server only
this server has custom texture pack - when joining i see faces, then the texture pack auto installs, then the faces go wrong.
but, issue doesn't seem present on vanilla.
what happens if you disable server resource packs?
Are you able to send the resource pack?
It should be stored in .minecraft/server-resource-packs

this is with auto install texture pack, but their shouldn't be much difference. o.o

i found what's probably the issue
you have a custom shader for entity_translucent
Sodium/Iris will completely ignore this, since it's not possible to reuse that with Sodium's code
so whatever you're doing there just... won't work
thats within the texture pack right? what is the path for that?

i dont remember ever adding that, it might have been a side install with another project.
This is often used for custom models
as a hack
unsure if i should remove that then, as im using a LOT of models.

It seems to be trying to change where the UV's are fror players? which doesn't make much sense
try removing it and seeing what happens in vanilla
If the same issue happens as in Iris, there's your problem

just delete everything with the file name entity_translucent
and the cull variant

i haven't been able to reproduce the faces issue, i could only guess it is

It's likely the RP having mismatched vertices somehow then
let me swap shader pack a few times see what happens
So yeah
I don't know what that code you have is doing
but it's almost certainly causing problems
