Goodyear welt Chelsea’s fit for winter?
I’ve been looking at the solovair gauchos. They appear to have solid soles but I don’t know how to feel about their leather. Looking at some reviews it doesn’t look very impressive, any alternatives you’d recommend?

What is your budget?
Probably couldn’t justify more than $400
But I have poor impulse control and if I love it I’ll probably justify it
New in that price probably Fugashin, Grant Stone, Red Wing, Meermin, Unmarked, the Last Conspiracy, and Skolyx. May be able to find RM Williams or Crockett & Jones on sale or used. Carmina, Briselblack, Benzein, Rolling Dub Trio, Addict, and Cobbler Union all have decent looking Chelsea’s slightly above that
Ty ty I definitely will look into these.
Hope this helps!
Definitely a lot of recommendations, I’m sure I’ll find something 🙂
Canada West makes Made in Canada welted Chelseas/Romeos
Blundstones are glued not welted.
There doesn’t seem to be a easy way to buy them in the us
Ya their site is… bad. But they have lots of Canadian stockists. A lot of them are like, horse and tack stores. Fair point.
I do like the appearance of the heritage blundstones which are Goodyear welted. Although I hear the quality of blundstones has taken a dive which is what turns me away from them
Why do you want GYW?
I like the BIFL mentality.
Many glued constructions can still be resoled, like Blundstones. and they'll do better in winter weather as well imo
Loakes are in the price range as well
i will say my blundstones only lasted like two years and couldn't be resoled because the leather just straight up ripped and detached from the sole. was a bummer, they were comfy
that's pretty shocking, they're known for being durable. Bet you could reach out to them for a warranty claim
Update: going with bordon
Fugashin and skolyx almost got me
