Need feedback on design for my site

Hey folks, I'm working on my site to start offering web development services to local businesses. I've got the main page design here so far and I'd love some feedback on it. Anything and everything is game. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Hi 👋 there Brian! So, I guess you don’t have any works to show right now? First thing is: if you want to start, than it’s good enough, don’t wait till it will be perfect)) The image. What do you think it’ll tell people? Will it tell “web development”? And “web development” somewhat not catching the eye. It’s in the subtitle, but you really need to read it, which is highly unlikely most people want to do. How will this page work? Is it like a landing page and you’ll direct some ad traffic to it?

Hey Misha, I do have some projects to show. I’ll be adding a section for that. This is the main page of the site. I’ll add detail pages regarding services etc. I’ll be reaching out to local businesses initially whose websites have issues and offering advice on how to improve them. No pushy sales tactics or anything. I’ll try to offer some value upfront and then hopefully some of them will have me rebuild their sites. I see what you’re saying regarding the heading. I was planning on making the h1 tag the “Edmonton web design and development” line.

You now what they say about business people?)) They are usually busy))) To read all the texts you want them to read, and understand what all of that services info means on your detail pages. And frankly they don’t need it. The only thing they need is to know if you are capable of doing what you are promising to do. And the best way for you to make it easy is to show your works, as soon as possible.

I agree with Misha. I noticed a lot (most) web design/dev agencies always show their works first and foremost right after the Hero Don't get too caught up in optimizing for keywords in my experience. You'll most likely get most of your clients through outreach and referrals in the beginning. It's a lot of work to try to curate your content towards keywords as a marketing tactic. I'd leave that up to an SEO once you get money coming in and a network built up. Just my 2 cents though, I'm at the same point you are right now so I could definitely be wrong

I hear ya. And yes, I’m not expecting anyone to find this site on google anytime soon. Outreach is where it’s at for sure, at least at the beginning. I’ll take your guys’ advice and add the works directly below the hero.
