low fps with shaders

i'm having a problem with iris. when i enable any shader (bsl, rethinking voxels, seus hrr3), the fps goes under 60fps most of the time, staying around 40-60. with optifine it's higher, although can still drop sometimes.

issue fixed itself somehow today THANKFULLY

I was having that same issue somehow the issue fixes itself it's almost like something is triggering the bad performance might be how the drivers are interacting with Iris and yes, OF gave me more FPS though it's not as good as Iris + Sodium so I couldn't keep running it for the latter are obviously superior in terms of performance nowadays I found out that by playing SP first the 'bad performance triggering' as we shall call it, is somehow avoided removing nVIDIA, AMD shader cache usually will also help sometimes interestingly enough this issue didn't use to happen back in 1.19.x that's only in the 1.20.x versions of the game the bad performance is 'triggered' I was never able to proper diagnose the issue but I do think something is triggering it after conducting some tests in both SP and MP, the FPS would suddenly go up to a stable 80fps then back up to 40 in the same area (server lobby), I would close the game and launch it again till I regained the stable 80fps. Nowdays the issue will not happen to me anymore as long as I join SP first, enable the shaders, exit, then join the MP servers I typically play on. That's some odd behaviour indeed from Iris...

the low fps happened while playing SP only for me though. And the issue is still there whenever I enable higher than 16x texture pack with shaders, but on 16x and 32 render distance I get good 60 fps with shaders...... Something is triggering it, you're correct.

weirdly enough, it was all fine on 1.19.x but the moment I updated to 1.20.x that issue begins showing up something in 1.20.x might be triggering it be it the code for the vanilla game, sodium or Iris or a combination of the three installing different iterations of Iris or Sodium does not solve the problem

but bedrock shaders work fine for you? bedrock was updated to support shaders i think, you should test it out.

whoops, I forgot to reply to you lol no, I don't play Bedrock edition xD try cleaning up the Shader cache in your amd / nvidia painel that helps me a bit updating or downgrading drivers might help maybe they messed up something with their code in 1.20.x? my other games are working just fine, I'm getting a lot of FPS when playing them alternatively, you'll have to stop using texture packs, they might also be messing around with some stuff related to shaders
