I have been considering getting into a new hobby recently and I'm exploring leatherworking. My wallet is on it's last leg and I think it would be really cool to work my way up to designing my own jacket. Has anyone tried it before that could give me some tips for starting small?

Designing your own wallet would be cool, there are a few brands I can't remember RN that sell kits for things like that.
Designing a leather jacket would be a huge jump tho. I don't want to discourage you, cuz that would be sick, but you also have to be experienced making your own clothes and not just leather goods
A jacket is pretty different from small leather goods which can be easily hand stitched. There’s a bunch of starter kits out there if you Google. Then just buy some rando pieces of leather and have at it
