Sleeve length alteration for splittable/double-faced wool coat?
I read somewhere that the construction of double-faced wool coats make then harder to do alterations. How much harder is it? For example, is it still within the capabilities of an average dry cleaner seamstress, or is this something that I absolutely should take to a dedicated tailor?
The dry cleaner seamstress has always done a fantastic job with simpler things like hemming pants and shortening suit jacket sleeves with non-functioning buttons. She also generally lets me know if she can’t do something, so I’m not too worried that she’ll take a job she’s not capable of. But it’s a whole trip to get to her so I wanted to see if I can save a long trip.

what is the sleeve alteration you are looking to do? shortening? lenthening? does the sleeve have buttons or zips?
Just shortening. No zips or buttons on the sleeve. The sleeve has a lining but it’s held in place by a few thick threads rather than being more integrated into the sleeve, if that makes sense.
if they're only taking away fabric it shouldn't be a problem. double-faced fabric is used to hide the seams internally within the two layers of fabric. they'd just do the cuff as normal. If you want them to do a blind seam sleeve cuff however... no idea. that might be tricky. best to ask
