There are many different registrars available. If you need to ask this question, then I recommend buying your domain from the company that will also provide your hosting. This is actually not a good thing to do, because it can be difficult to divorce the company later while still keeping the domain name, but it's a good option for a beginner, because they take care of the name server configuration for you. If you use a separate registrar, you will need to know how to configure name servers on your own.
I think godaddy is very popular but you can also buy domains on cloudflare, google etc. But a little tip: If you're looking for a country domain and not .com or .org, you should look for providers in your country. In my experience those have been cheaper than foreign ones (Might just be my country but worth a shot)
Heads up: google domains got bought by Squarespace...
I've heard on reddit that Porkbun is decent, never used it but I plan to.
I use Porkbun and it's phenominal. GoDaddy is just a flat fuckin' hell no. Don't do it. You'd be better off stabbing your right eye out with a spoon. Seriously. Just do an internet search for "bad godaddy experience" and you'll see.
Random internet acquaintances don't let other random internet acquaintances use GoDaddy.
Yup, I heard that GoDaddy will see what domains you search, buy it, and raise the price but idk if that's true
Also my first experience with GoDaddy was bad
I use Namecheap and know a lot of people who do and like it. I don't particularly like their interface... it could use a nice overhaul and was enough to get me looking into another provider, but I haven't bothered yet π
.
I never hear anything but good things from Porkbun, so might be worth looking into.
I'll also say to avoid GoDaddy.
I hear this with a few of the sites, I swear I have had it happen on both Godaddy and Namescheap
I don't search for domains using services first anymore. I look to see if its in use first and whois it
Then I'lll search with a services only if I'm going to hit purchase xD
I'm still triggered by Google selling out to Squarespace... I'll probably be moving all mine over to Porkbun
I got emails talking about a migration already to their system... like fml
Just to chime in as well, I've been very happy with porkbun π
wish there was a pig tail emote as cute as their logo
I have one domain with them and was thinking of moving everything to them... procrastination pays off sometimes π
lol yea I just moved a client to google domains, and most mine are there... little peev'd hah
I actually really like their UI
also having managing accounts vs owner accounts.
will have to see how Squarespace handles this migration π¦
Thank you for your advices
I deployed my app to vercel and bought domain on google domains
Now I have sync with github changes in production branch
