1 inch cordovan belt
Alright - I’m over trying to source this myself. Anyone know where I can find a 1” color 8 cordovan belt with an interchangeable buckle?

Working with a leather worker probably the move but also how big are full pieces of shell
I guess horse asses are pretty big there’s probably enough for a belt
I’m not sure one piece cordovan belts even exist, but there are plenty of shell belts on the market. I just haven’t been able to find one that I can swap the buckle on, and I refuse to accept that it’s not available somewhere off the rack.
J Press has 1-1/8inch
From a quick google, idk anything about shell cordovan https://jpressonline.com/products/no-8-shell-cordovan-belt-with-nickel-buckle

Cordovan is a terrible leather for belts cmv

Thanks for checking but those don’t have an interchangeable buckle
Why?
They do, I know they do because I read some piece about it eons ago on MFA
Discussion was on how hard it was to find a shell large and consistent enough
Trying to remember the person's name, I think it was one of the guys who made wallets way back (still may?)
You could drop an email to Ezra Paul and ask him if his factory would or if he knows anyone who might
You could reach out to Jesse from Guarded Goods.
Doesn’t stretch, will probably crack.
Just not a good belt leather
@LeisurelyLoafing can I ask why you want an interchangeable buckle?
Interchangeable isn’t that hard if it’s closed with chicago screws - which is decently common. I like being able to swap mine from silver to brass if one looks better than another in a fit
Single shells exist, but I believe are usually made from donkey or mule shell
Even if not, that’s still super hard to come by
I dropped them a line earlier - 1” isn’t an option on their site but figure it’s worth a shot
I don’t need it to stretch but crackling along the buckle is a concern. For the price of a nice calf belt figured might as well go with shell.
Didn’t even know donkey and mule shell was a thing
Got a lot of buckles but mainly for my silver engine tuned buckle
And most dress belts have ugly square buckles. Morjas has a nice one that I’ve been eyeing
I think @Metcarfre might be into something with the cracking - might be why interchangeable buckles aren’t really a thing with shell.
@LeisurelyLoafing have you tried reaching out to Guarded Goods?
Sent them an email yesterday
