Looking for stores new and vintage that fit this sort of vibe (EU)

Currently trying to improve my fashion sense as well as my wardrobe so I collected some Inspiration on this discord as well as some other sites. I feel like for this topic pictures are easier than a description so I just provided those. Basically I'm looking for suggestions on how to buy clothes in this style and perhaps also a descripton of usefull phrases to search. I think it leans slightly vintage and perhaps rugged ivy but I'm not sure. I do know of quiet a few Japanese stores that kind of dabble in this style but they are frequently out of budget for me and not available in my sitze (6 ft 4 240 pounds for reference). My current go to store is Uniqlo. I'm both open to buying new and vintage although it would be ideal if the shipping cost wouldn't be huge. Budget really depends on the type of item for me but I'm thinking of ideally staying under 100 or around that for most standard pieces of clothes going higher for special pieces, shoes and outerwear. Stores that I already know that kind of fit are: Broadway and Sons Universal Surplus Bronson

I don't really understand what your question is, you seem to know what kind of clothes you would like to buy
KissGo-Goat
KissGo-GoatOP17mo ago
My question is sort of burried here I was wondering what good vintage/normal stores or brands would be within Europe

Clutch Cafe london fits this vibe pretty exactly! Might be on the pricier end of the spectrum once EU shipping is applied though

If I remember correctly you are located in Germany, right? And already know about cultizm 😄. On my list in germany for this sort of style are: https://stuf-f.com https://burgundschild.com https://classic-kontor.com https://die-form.de https://statement-store.com Generally they are not that cheap because of the whole vintage reproduction thing. I also check https://hhv.de, https://bstn.com/eu_de, https://allikestore.com and https://tint-store.com sometimes for brands like Carhartt WIP, Dickies, Stan Ray, etc. And generally in the EU for the more workwear style: https://tenuedenimes.com https://denimheads.cz https://redcastheritage.com https://secondsunrise.se https://goteborgmanufaktur.se https://burt-clothing.com (this is the cousin of universal surplus) https://thebureaubelfast.com (northern ireland is exempt from brexit rules) https://rendez-vous-store.com https://tempest.works https://storedunord.com https://meadowweb.com https://stgermainshop.com/ I think those almost all have some stuff that fits what you're looking for. I don't have experience ordering at all of these I just collect what I run into on the web. As a fellow european I know it can be frustrating sometimes to see great american or japanese stores on here that would be super expensive to shop from because of import duties, etc. But there is quite a lot out there in the EU as well 🙂

I am and I do. Thank you soo much for the help. Yeah my main problem with Japanese style stuff is of course the cost and their sizes tend to be way too small for me

The olderbest thing is a bit confusing but it is good to have both things bookmarked. I like a lot of their styles and the prices are quiet good Yes I think some nice wide chinos would be a good next step

Make sure to double check the size charts. I got some shirts that I had to get in XL and one I needed to get 2XL I can't say anything about the other items they sell as I've only bought t-shirts

If you have the time and energy you can find most of these kinds of clothes on Vinted, Sellpy, Kleinanzeigen or Momox. (that's if you're budget-conscious) You seem to have a very specifc idea of what things you want, which makes it much easier to hunt for these things on the secondhand-market. btw. the clothes that you're looking for, is exactly my style. love it!
KissGo-Goat
KissGo-GoatOP17mo ago
yeah I might need find a good strategy to search for these kinds of clothes. I found the mentioned sites to be just full of uninteresting stuff.

Yeah those are good tips. If nothing else the stores can also help you with finding the names of items/styles that you like And brands

I'd say 80% of my wardrobe is thrifted, you can definitely get most of them secondhand if you know what to look out for. just as an example; I also like the rugged Ivy look and have been looking for some better ocbd's; then the other day I bought two hardly used Gitman Vintage miUSA ocbds on Sellpy for 29€ each. Sometimes you just gotta wait and then you'll find the right stuff.

Wow this is great, maybe there could be an article on the substack? So much there is mostly US
KissGo-Goat
KissGo-GoatOP17mo ago

stmn
stmn17mo ago
Thanks! I actually have more links that fit in different categories/styles. Maybe one of these days I'll share it here and ask for input from other EU users so we can make a collaborative list that could be the basis for a guide

some items of your list are very easy to get secondhand, e.g. Dickies (so many on vinted), then military inspired chinoes or original surplus trousers are easy to get on Ebay, there are usually a good selection of trench coats on most of the secondhand platforms as well (vinatge Aquascutum trench coats are usually a bit cheaper than Burberrys); Ralph Lauren did some nice high-waisted pleated trousers in the 90s, for lightweight jackets you'll have plenty of options from harrington jackets to french chore coats; for 'chunky' derby shoes the English shoemakers are good (Crockett & Jones, Tricker's, Solovair, Loake); good OCBDs (Brooks Brothers miUSA, Gitman Vintage, Drake's, ...), Natalino makes also good high waisted trousers.
KissGo-Goat
KissGo-GoatOP17mo ago
I had troubles with the chinos but I might need to search more. The surplus stores I looked at had them at high prices and not my size but I'm sure I was just looking wrong. Thank you so much for your advice it's really motivating:)
briquebrutale
briquebrutale17mo ago
Dockers / Land's end or Uniqlo U are solid choices for good chinos! also military sizes can be confusing at first; once you know how to convert them to regular sizes it's easy.
KissGo-Goat
KissGo-GoatOP17mo ago
all good to know and good to know you can find some good chinos and stuff like that on ebay in Germany as well. I sometimes wondered if that was more of a US thing
briquebrutale
briquebrutale17mo ago
I do think that in comparison to Germany, Ebay is better for clothes in the US and the UK, but you can still get good things there; my biggest gripe with Ebay is the seach function. I'd definitely recommend looking at all the different secondhand platforms.
KissGo-Goat
KissGo-GoatOP17mo ago
Thanks, I will keep that in mind you are located in Germany as well right?

Anyone ordered the ivy style chinos from olderbest? They seem suspiciously good value https://www.olderbest.com/products/1930s-ivy-style-double-pleated-chino-trousers-yellow

@raisinpie I think you have those right?
briquebrutale
briquebrutale17mo ago
Yes, the quaility is decent! Non-Stock is one of the several Chinese brands that have specialised in American Heritage Workwear, you can also order them via Aliexpress. I have a nice thick striped sweater from Non-Stock, which I bought last year via Aliexpress for 30€, really good value for that kind of money. All these American Heritage Workwear inspired Chinese brands, are essentially a cheaper and more value-oriented version of companies like 'The Real McCoys' from Japan. And some of their reproductions of iconic American designs, you almost can't get anywhere else.
KissGo-Goat
KissGo-GoatOP17mo ago
Do you happen to know what the connection between non-stock and bronson is?
briquebrutale
briquebrutale17mo ago
I'd love if more people, who have bought from one these companies could share their experience here! No idea; the quality at least is the same. Perhaps they are even made at the same factory, who knows.

https://labourunion-1986.com Labour Union is also one of these Chinese brands, that make some good clothes. I'd love to order one of their coats from their website.

briquebrutale17mo ago
I'm a fan of the British Army Fatigues; you can get them for very cheap on Ebay. Unfortunately, the most common sizes are usually sold out. Some other recommendations: Duffle Coat: Gloverall, Ladage & Oelke ; other kinds of quality (vintage) Coats: Odermark The Swedish Army Jacket is also iconic, and usually very cheap to get!
