Can hiking books be fashionably worn with shorts?

Specifically in a casual context, not during actual hiking, like as an alternative to sneakers I guess.

They can be, boots and shorts has been back in a big way this summer and I expect it’ll be around next summer as well, it’s really leaning into the kind of dweeby gorp dad vibe
It’s more of a look than just regular sneakers or low shoes
Scrunched down socks, bright laces etc
I feel like it demands off white tube socks
Maybe technical shorts too
With cargo pockets full of granola bars or trail mix

I just dont think they’d work well with like, 6” inseam slim chino shorts
Would tube/showing socks be necessary?
No you can do what you want but that is just personally how I would do it
Nothing is necessary but it helps with the bulkiness of boots
If you’re confident as hell when you’re wearing them then it can probably work without tube socks
I think no sock showing at all would be kind of strange
Just because of how hiking boots are normally worn with some long type of sock
The interior of the boot might rub on your skin and irritate you too if you wear a low sock

I truly can't imagine a polo looking good with gorp shorts + boots

Camp collar over tank, linen long sleeve over tee, baby tee by itself, anorak and five panel hat

eh, I'm just not a jorts kind of guy, so it usually slips in my recommendations

I mean if you're trying to do hiking boots with shorts. Jorts is the exact same vein
this is what my mind thinks of with jorts + boots. i just can't personally style it, but i'm sure there's some inspo out there where people are successfully pulling it off

Tbh, part of me is a bit hesitant goin for the full hiker look when I'm not actually gonna be hiking
you don't need to go full 1970s hiker, that's just some inspo
my point with that is you can look sick as hell wearing boots and shorts, lean into it and do some baggies and scrunched down white socks
My problem with hiking boots is they often have too much bulk around the ankle (like the second jorts + boots pic) if you’re not attached to hiking boots then chelsea boots I’m thinking rounder toe or dealer boots might work. But then again I’ve got wacko style sometimes so might get creamed alive by everyone lol
Personally can’t see Chelseas working in a boots and shorts context but I am biased against Chelseas generally, the boots and shorts thing is basically an evolution of gorpcores move into mainstream, so it’s in conversation specifically with the hiker look
The only chelsea boots I can see working this way are ones that are chunky and outdoorsy like blundstones.
Shorts and blunnies is a huge vibe here
Some short-ish camp shorts or fatigue shorts with a plain tee or henley or whatever. Landscaper/treeplanter vibes
