No idea how to buy pants - fat trans guy who hated shopping for women's pants
Hey, I'm a trans guy (well, nonbinary, it's complicated and not especially relevant to this) and I have no idea how to shop for pants. I've been hiding in hippie chick clothing but I'd like other options. I hated shopping for women's pants so much that I haven't bought pants or shorts besides yoga pants and leggings for the gym in over 10 years, so I really have no idea what I'm doing. I'm on the larger end of things and fat, 52" around the fullest part of my butt and 50" at belly button height. In spite of those measurements I'm not cylinder shaped, I have a large butt and a bit of a belly. My very limited attempts at shopping for pants (trying things on at Target, looking at big & tall clothing online) suggests that most clothing brands assume fat men don't have butts. Either they're way too big everywhere but the seat or they seem like they more or less fit but I get pocket flare when I sit down.
Can I get some general shopping advice and maybe some brand or style recommendations? I'm interested in pants that are roughly equivalent to khakis for casual office wear while not being khakis and in outdoorsy athleisure pants and shorts, REI kinda stuff. Thank you!

This is entirely normal fwiw and not to worry about.
By khakis would you include chinos? Because a pleated chino is probably up your alley
Pleated chinos are acceptable if they come in gray or maybe navy.
Saw it, unfortunately I think the only brand mentioned that has my waist size is Carhartt. I'm aware of athletic cut as something to look for but as far as I can tell "big & tall" brands don't do it.
Wait, seriously? It looks so weird to me!
Yeah pocket flare when standing isn't great, but sitting is like whatever.
For future reference a weird bulge in the crotch (w/ or w/o a dick) is normal too, lol
when sitting
It makes things fall out of my pockets when I sit down though. 😢 I was assured men's pants had actually usable pockets.
Hmm, sorry about that.
