Weather and Dash Widgets take Long to Load
After upgrading to version 0.13.2 the Weather and Dash widgets can take up to 40 seconds to load. Dash Widget also displays an error for a few seconds before actually loading. Attaching the screenshot. I have sent the logs to one of the developers following this instructions for collecting logs: https://homarr.dev/docs/community/faq#how-do-i-open-the-console--log Thanks.

Could you check again with your browsers’s “network” tab ?
My guess is that it’s failing and re-trying somehow
Hey there, when you say network you mean this? If yes, All the red and yellow warnings there are related to the IP where Dash is.
I have no clue what any of that means though.
Ok, after farther trial and error it seems that issue is also related to the "Status Checker" After disabling Status checker for many more of the apps/sites for which I had enabled "Check Status" for, it now again loads almost immediately.
It just delays for a couple of seconds maybe 2 or 3, but that is no longer annoying, it's almost neglectable and it no longer bothers me.
But there's probably still an issue with the Status Checker feature.
How many apps do you have?
The status checker might take quite long, if there are many
Right now, I only have 15.
I had like 30 🙂
Weird...
What is the delay to your apps? Are they very fast or do they take long to load?
When I load the Dash page itself for example at: http://192.168.1.241:60/ it loads immediately and with no problem or delay.
Nothing else presents a delay that I can tell.
The widget gadget still takes the aprox 1 or 2 secodns delay too. But well 2 seconds is nothing, I can't even tell. If I wasn't hyper aware of them 2 widgets delaying more than the others I wouldn't even notice that.
But you guys are probably gonna hear from more people complaining about those two widgets/apps taking long to load if people enable many "Check Status".
1-2 is pretty normal. But we haven't hear any other reports about long loading times yet...
Looking at your log, there is also an error that should not be there...
It's really almost unnoticeable, but if you are hyperaware of it, you can still tell.
Ok.
We currently do not persist pings in any way. There will be a future update where we will - that will solve all latency problems with the pings. But that doesn't have any high priority right now
Perfect, I understand.
But I would place a warning on the "Status Checker" on the network tab that goes something like: "Keep in mind enabling this for too many apps may cause Homarr to delay displaying some widgets/apps" or something around the lines. That would for example prevent people from not using Homarr after trying it thinking it's buggy without investigating farther or you guys getting more reports of this soft. Just a thought.
I'm super happy with Homarr.
It would be a useful hint in the documentation:
https://homarr.dev/docs/customizations/layout#pings
You can edit and contribute that warning using the link at the bottom of the page.
💻 Layout | Homarr Docs
Using the layout settings, you can customize the apperance and layout of your Homarr instance.
Will do.
We're glad that you're happy btw. Next update will be a pretty big one
Thanks!
Can't wait.
