What are some of the ettiquettes/do's and dont's of asking questions here?

As per title, I was wondering a couple of things: 1. If someone was asking a question on a certain topic in a different forum post, can I follow up and ask there if I have the same question and wish for further clarification on that same topic or are posts reserved for the OP only? 2. As I am self-hosting, should I make that clear at the start/post the specs of the rig in the question when I need help regarding setups or performance matters? 3. If I need help from a specific person, is it looked down upon to ping them from within a post? 4. If I would like say someone to provide support through teamviewer or similar, is that a marketplace thing or a questions thing if my original question is located here? Please point out other related things here, thank you.

1. Yes, but old threads appear way below the new ones, so you might have to link it in #general or something, but it's best to just create a new thread with everything you need to know that's specific. 2. Yes, definitely you should do that. 3. It is very looked down upon to need help from a specific person on this server. DM them if you only need help from that person. Otherwise, when the person already tried to help you, you can probably reply with ping and the person will answer when they have time 4. People here don't have that much time on their hands. Your best bet is a screenshare.

For "1", I've been thinking about adjusting the default sorting of the channel to "most recent activity", do you think that would help?

i feel like it would be annoying? new posts could possibly get completely ignored just because there's other more active posts but you can do this client-side as well

1. Yes that's fine. 2. Only if it's relevant to the question at hand. If your question is about a configuration change you shouldn't bother to send them. 3. It's bad manners to ping somebody randomly or repeatedly, but it doesn't hurt to reply tag them. Especially if it's been a while since last response. Otherwise, it depends on person. 4. I wouldn't personally recommend trusting random strangers to TeamViewer into your pc or anything. Would immediately solve the "old post gets ignored" problem without shoving away other posts. Allowing people to more easily bump problems that get overlooked. Otherwise the solution is to just delete and repost and that's nothing but frustrating for everyone involved.

For 3., If you talked to the person in #general and they were actively talking to you, would it then be fine to direct them to your #questions post?
