Pants Fit Question

Hey, long time lurker, first time poster. I've been recently experimenting with more straight and relaxed fit pants, I tend to like the silhouette better and I can't personally stand the way slim and tapered pants look/feel on me. However there's this weird crease that's forming with all of my new pants that's throwing off the silhouette. It starts from behind my knee and it wraps around to the outseam, causing the fabric to bunch up and puff out at my hips. I showed it with red in the pictures (The jeans are N&F True Guy, the fatigues are Stan Ray). I don't know what's causing this, especially because it's happening with all my new stuff. Is it a normal thing to happen with pants? I find it a bit unflattering. Should I consider tailoring? I've had a hard time figuring out my correct fit, so any advice would be appreciated!

I don’t wanna be the “it’s all in your head” person cause i totally get being picky about the way things sit on me but these both look totally fine to me. The fabric will change as you wear it especially the denim so i would just keep wearing as usual and the fabric will relax as time goes on

Thanks! You're right I am being a bit picky, I think I just needed another set of eyes.

Did you happen to try on the next sizes up, particularly for the Stan Rays? If so, how'd those look?

The stuff you highlighted is fine/is just going to happen with OTR clothes. The rise, particularly for the fatigues looks like less than fun. I’d consider a size up or something if that area feels uncomfortable

I tried a size up for each, and at that point they don’t stay on my waist without the waistband bunching. These are 31s and they fit my waist pretty well. It’s not particularly uncomfortable, but I see what you mean. It used to be pretty uncomfortable with slim fit pants of the same size, which is kinda why I wanted to try looser fitting stuff.

I frequently have to go up in size, then have my tailor bring in the waist, to get pants to drape correctly/smoothly/pleasingly. The Stan Rays look a bit snug around your hips imo, so sizing up to see how that affects the drape (with altering the waist in mind) would be my first step. Like you I tend to be picky. Also like you, I'm no expert 😅
