Bought this suit and wanting to get a fedora/trilby to go with it. Colour ideasv

Wanting something to go nicely with this. It’s a bit darker and the stripe colours are less pronounced in person. Was thinking just a simple black?

Fedora/trilby is very tough to pull off without looking like this timeless I'd wear the suit on its own first

Haha dw I have worn trilbys and fedoras a little bit and it doesn’t look toooo much like that. it’s quite a vintage style/fitting suit so i don’t imagine it’d be too egregious

As fall approaches, it’s about time that we talked about this classic piece of headwear.  Apparently, going from an almost-full on rejection to a newfound appreciation is the theme of th…

Loving the look of the light grey hat with the dark suit. the banding on this might be enough to put it in line with the rest of the suit

Just a hint of advice, if you’re trying to match the color of the hat to the suit….don’t. Similar to a pocket square and tie combo, trying to go too matchy matchy ends up looking boring at best, or silly at worst.

yeah no that’s definitely a good point, but a some cohesion isn’t the worst imo

The main issue here is that basically all of the details are very modern. The shirt collar is weak. The tie is too shiny and doesn’t dimple right. The lapel is too narrow. Jacket too slim. Etc. The hat has similar problems. The light tan makes it stand out too much and the brim isn’t nearly wide enough Check out Wellema Hat Co on Instagram. For a great selection of good hat styles

If you truly want to pursue the hat thing I think a classic wide brimmed fedora (ugh) in a neutral color is a solid option. The other play is to lean into a vibe like western and just get a Stetson open road or skyline

Yeah this is a little bit of a no-go being from the UK haha, don’t want to have to pay international shipping haha. Lovely hats mind

Even if you don’t buy from him I think it’s a great resource for hats that are good. It’s v easy to find garbage hats out there He also might occasionally do trunk shows in London? Don’t go custom to start tho

Definitely. Other thing is I don’t have £200 to spend on a hat atm. London’s still an awful treck for me as I’m in northern england. Was thinking of picking one up from somewhere like RevivalVintage, Jaxon or Borges and Scott which are much closer to affordable to me

There are probably good hatters in the UK

If you’re trying to look good on a budget the best thing to do is be picky and patient Don’t get something “close enough” because with this type of thing close enough isn’t close enough

Bishop is right. The more 'offbeat,' the more perfect you need to get it to get it right.
