Eighteen East
I have a few things from when they first launched but haven't picked up anything new in a while. Anyone know what the quality is like now that they've been around a few years?

For the price it is decent quality. My favorite pieces are from the first couple of drops. The shelter shorts are great and early short sleeve shirts were also excellent.
Only being able to get store credit for returns is also not a great if you want to try out stuff.
I've got a few 18 East pieces, including a shirt from the most recent drop. No complaints about quality at all. Was there something you were interested in?
Nothing in particular at this moment (always meant to get a pair of the Gorecki cargos but never got around to it).
Gorecki's are great, I actually got mine off eBay. the texture is sick on them, i wish i went up a size (which is the case for 99% of 18 East, it really does look better oversized)
I have some balloon pants, a popover and one of the heavy ass standard issue collabs too
I second @Jorgeragula05 on loving the first few drops. My opinion is that their stuff isn't all that high quality. I run into quality issues (fraying, tearing, etc) more often with 18 East than most brands at that price point. Not poor quality by any means, but more than I'd expect.
Im eyeing this gorgeous afghan collar shirt but I’m low on funds at the moment
The goreckis look really awesome too
Damn that’s disappointing to hear
I got their bucket hat, awesome fit and the fabric is great. Also have the fisherman's shirt, the mesh in the inside and back vent really help it breathe. Pockets are oddly placed and I'm not a fan, but it's a pretty small gripe imo.
Yeah I have several of the shelter shorts - my oldest pair I had to have repaired due to a frayed button hole. Now the zipper is separating from the fly and I have to get them fixed again.
only beef iv'e had so far is the kaden balloon pants i have don't have belt loops, and they're a bit too heavy for the drawstring to always keep them where i want them to sit
did not think I was gonna be at work today will report back with double knee hammer loop durability
Lol I often wear my 18east double knees in my workshop as well. So far they're fine
yea thankfully this job is pretty close to done, they’re definitely fine for millwork but I’d be so stressed doing demo or rough framing
All I'm doing is basic woodworking so I just need to dodge glue squeeze out and I'm fine. But they make me feel cool
I don’t really need a fleece but sheeeesh 🔥
The upcoming drop looks so good
The khadi collar rugby they teased looked amazing too. I also love this jacket
Damn I have a Bode jacket that looks really similar
the best thing antonio could do is stop posting. wtf does "amazing fit and weight" mean. hb button loops and basic articulation is found on shit garms from target. https://www.styleforum.net/threads/18-east.615593/post-11509257

wore the bleached carpenter jeans for the first time today and can confirm they are great.
debating whether to get the undyed or the raw indigo pair next. don’t think there is a wrong answer here.
yeah weirdly hostile response on a thread almost exclusively filled with fanboys
the seersucker stuff is interesting but it's almost almost the end of august.
three years since covid and they still haven't gotten their production schedule sorted. sucks because the basics are fine enough if they'd get shit sorted. drops read as though production and logistics are still 6 months behind
i hate that they're putting things in store weeks before they go on line too
makes their drops an even more stressful lottery
hah, that one i can sympathize with. seems to be that they're using shopify logistics for online, and so they toss the stuff up immediately in store. They seem to be in perpetual money crunch (but these things are all worth much more! they'd sell for quadruple if they had a bode tag!) and need to keep funds moving
The seersucker pants look nice but I've been pretty disappointed with all the 18east tailoring, I get that it's not a #menswear brand but it's impossible to look at any of their blazers or overcoats and not compare them to eidos imo
like that balmacaan from last season was quarter lined with mesh
felt so weird lol
wait what on the balmacaan? mesh? like poly mesh?
The mesh pockets they use on their pants sometimes drive me kinda nuts too
and my real favorite thing of the brand being poorly run and incredibly stupid: them turning off the ability for people to tag the brand on IG. incredibly gold that they don't want people giving them free advertising
wait what? i tag them in my photos a lot. you just mean that they dont' show on their brand IG page?
yeah, that's what i meant
I agree. Also helps people make informed decisions on styling too
They used to have them up -- meaning it was an explicit choice to turn it off. Big vibes of "the people who wear the brand don't fit the 'feeling' we want to give off"
I really hope I'm not misremembering but yea, felt so off and no lining/canvasing made it drape super weird. Like, I know antonio knows how to cut an overcoat wtf are they doing.
turning off the insta tagging is the worst
esp when i want to see how stuff fit, cause in the fitpics they always put the largest size on the person
they also dont even take fit pics for everything anymore
Yeah but tbf all their fit pics were of their models wearing XL no matter what so they didn't really help much
lol fair, it's the opposite of the ssense models
Their logic for removing fit pics was that too many people where making returns after buying stuff based on model fits
which is also wild cause they definitely do a lot of pinning/clamping in all those
and the site sizing rec is always just take your alpha size or size up one
crazy how the solution for them was, no pics at all rather than just wearing the right size
arent the clothes designed to be worn at a certain size?
if its supposed to be oversized, make it that way
no that’s too easy
running a brand like its performance art
"no, you just don't get it"
it just seems like there are so many better options, like just shoot multiple sizes or something even if it doubles their ecom cost it would save on returns
and it wouldn’t double their ecom cost lol
All this being said, I'm a big fan of every piece I've got from them. They're not perfect but I'm excited for some stuff on the new drop.
yeah, excited for some stuff on the next drop too
+1 on no tagged photos on their IG. I have to resort to searching the #18east tag but that doesn't pull as much
Thoughts on the Lamar coat? Really debating on whether to pull the trigger or not for this one
I really like it - unfortunately (or fortunately for my bank acct.) TX doesn't have many top coat weather days but if it did and I was in the market I think I like the "Darkest Army" the best - looks like it's dark enough to distinguish it from a milsurp jacket.
agreed, I think I'm gonna pull the trigger with the dark green one. Just trying to decide between going tts with S or sizing down to XS
This guy from styleforum sized down from M to S being 6'2" and it looks nice and slightly oversized still
Wow at 5’5” I’m thinking I’m out.
yea im 5'8" but with short legs and even im worried about being swallowed in it. it's very nice though
Yeah the brand makes cool stuff sometimes but the dude just seems like the biggest asshole, especially after the casual racism thing
?? what casual racism thing??
And his responses were basically oops sorry we got caught
wow
lol also just saw the styleforum posts where he defends it
best thing antonio could do for his brand would be to stop posting, and maybe hand over the ig password to someone else
thread was also a reminder of the good ol days when the brand was actually asian inspired and not yet another skate brand
first couple drops had me so excited
Agree with all of this. Also that graphic is weirdly celebrating gentrification? Just not a good choice
I really looked forward to the drops at the beginning of the brand but now I barely pay attention to them. Also the sizing is so hard to figure out with all the fit pics being oversized.
you mean pics like this aren't helping?
he has such a punchable face
weird that they decided to go for the crustiest photoshoot imaginable
the fit pics from last year were actually pretty awesome
warehouse sale is sneakily live now, WAREHOUSE30 for a discount. they also turned off their international shipping lol wack
Great, i just bought the Kadens a few days ago 😂

Just saw this! So sick
Texture looks incredible
reminds me when patchwork was on mfa
So uh I guess they don't ship to Canada
do they have one major buyer in aruba?
thats so random
also dont understand why its so hard to just charge more for international shipping
International shipping hasn’t worked in forever on their site. They have absolutely dogshit logistics. You can email them to order though they do ship here.
They had some warehouse thing and had to manually enter all their SKUs or something and just never turned it back on.
Ah bummer! The new drop is already sold out. Oh well, I'll have to remember this for next time.
Time to start scouring Grailed
oh no, change it to USD
if you put it to CAD on the site it shows everything as sold out
Hahahaha man you weren't kidding about the dogshit logistics
yeah, it's insane. i've ordered stuff on drop day via email (you can also call) but sometimes they also just won't get back to you. i had a friend in NY willing to pick things up for me and they just ghosted me mid conversation

do they do black friday sales ever? Wouldn't mind picking up a couple summer things
They do the occasional warehouse sale but they can be pretty intermittent and random
thank you, probably worth waiting. Big fan of the shelter shorts
Based on my old emails it happened the last two years in September
wasnt there one april of this year?
they've done them in spring and one was randomly in november too last year

I assume it’s not including the latest drop. Not that I can buy anything because international shipping is still fucking broken.

bought three caps, kinda worried about how they going to look bc couldnt find any fits online but the fabrics looked interesting so went for it
ohh i didn't see there was a black one
i went back to buy the bucket hat and it was gone xd
I clicked on the link and got the 404 error and was like damn too
I have the green bucket hat in a similar fabric, love it
woo! excited to get it.
they already printed the label
they ship super fast within the US apparently
Three shirts in three separate shipments. I hope this means I won't get charged duty since each is below the threshold individually.
Holy shit that Nanga coat

The gorecki cargos are sick, the denim jacket is uhhhh fine?
It’s cut kinda weird and the sleeves are way too short
It’s also bleeding indigo like crazy, it’s not actually denim so I should be ok to give it a cold water soak right?
I think the trucker is the same material as the double knees I have and yeah I had some real bad bleeding with it. I haven't tried a cold soak yet, so please update me if you do!
fabric ^
Yeah I don’t see it harming the jacket, I’m just hoping it will be enough and I won’t have to put it in the washing machine
Water’s still dark blue after a full day of soaking and replacing the water…….
Finally decided to add a drop of woolite to try and help speed things up
WOW, okay good to know. Thanks for the update! I was pretty shocked with how much rubbed off on day one (I foolishly tucked a white shirt into the pants). I'll likely end up doing the same.
kinda crazy they sell it like that
Things are going great with their warehouses
I wonder if there’s chatter about the bleeding in the Styleforum thread. It’s super active. Antoni posts in there a lot.
I was thinking some googling about regular raw denim would give me an answer but yeah this is kinda excessive so I’ll have to see if there’s any info there
Looking through it now and looks like a few of their overdyed/indigo pieces have bleeding at first.
I’ve had good results with the professional textile detergent from Dharma Trading Co. It’s close to neutral pH, designed for locking in dyes after tie-dying while helping keep lighter parts light. After I used it with the Richmond overdyes, it locked in the indigo beautifully without any bleed in subsequent washes. Ymmv, but in general I’d look for something specifically designed for garment dyed fabrics for pieces like these.Apparently a bit of vinegar in a soak can stop the bleeding a bit
I just got done searching around myself and found the same info, lots of their pieces especially the indigo bleed like crazy. I saw that exact comment as well
I’ll try the vinegar, hope it helps!
Update:
This is just from handling the jacket to iron it…….
Idk if it’s just the leftover water causing it to bleed still because it’s not fully dry but this is excessive
that’s so weird, I have that exact jacket and have never had any bleeding issues
never washed or soaked it
got two pieces from the sale and am p dissatisfied
field shirt L measurements are so far off that I think it might be a mislabeled M, cargos are fine just not for me
so it goes
I've owned a handful of their pieces now and can't say I was satisfied with any single one of them. There's always some fit or quality (construction, etc.) issue that ends up being a dealbreaker for me. Real shame because I love a lot of their designs
I’ve only had the shelter camp shorts which I absolutely love for hot summers. Feel like nothing while looking presentable. Surprised by how small the top block on the ripstop double knees is. I expected a bit more rise and room in the hips.
I have a fishing shirt from them and I love it, their bucket hats are great also. I got their oversized coat this year as a Xmas gift, will update after Christmas
one of mine just came in and im glad i sized up, i heard they ran small and it's def true
Love this
apparently they're gonna fix the warehouse issues with a new provider in 2024 and goddamn it can't come soon enough
was able to snag the yellow snap pullover sweater in xl on ebay, the actual measurements were (again!) way off the 18e site listing’s measurements but it fits and feels gr8
Looks like the most recent collection can only be ordered though email
Sweatshirt I wanted already sold out 😔
Yeah, it sounds like the warehouses yet again lost stock or didn't inventory it. It's true mindblowing how bad they are at this. And their main studio is under construction.
Their customer service is pretty good but they do occasionally get so slammed that they will just ghost you for days which isn't ideal with limited drops
Right like I legit haven’t ever heard of another company having issues with this type of thing, makes me put my tinfoil hat on. Maybe it’s a way to manufacture hype
And they're not even a new company anymore 😭
What I do have from them I really like, and for the price I'm very satisfied, so I'll continue dealing with them even with this nonsense. Not the worst I've seen by far, and the value on their products is great.
If anyone was interested in anything from the most recent drop, I did just get an email that they just received their shipment and that it'll go live on their site next week
But you can order through email before it goes live.

I'd be buying that brown pullover if I could, it's lovely. The black fleece feels a little too nondescript to be paying 18e prices for imo
i was interested in those black roy pants but had a meeting and missed out
I ended up getting the brown one, its pretty nice. I wish I had sized up to a large, the med. is fine but I would have preferred more relaxed
i feel like thats my sentiment whenever i buy something from them, which gets a bit annoying considering the portrayal of the fits
Yeah, at this point I just get the biggest size still in stock instead of looking at measurements. I've never felt like something was too oversized from them
See, I think this fits very fine as is, but I’m wondering if the large would have been a bit cooler
looks great tbh. all their stuff looks great oversized but it doesn't need to be oversized to look great
i do find their measurements can be misleading tho for sure, their pants look like they have short inseams but have huge rises, and their shoulders are usually intentionally dropped which can throw those outta wack. that said i generally go L for everything except the field shirts, which I copped in XL
Yeah, Antonio has mentioned on styleforum not wanting to do measurements anymore because it misleads people who just look at inseam and not rise. Ecommerce D2C is really damned if you do, damned if you don't sometimes
Similarly, he's commented about how they used to size for oversized (e.g. a Large would fit like an XL but have an L collar, sleeve length, etc.) but they got a ton of returns off of it.
$15 to ship a pair of socks lmao
Shipping is expensive
With 30% off theyd lose money if they didnt charge you for shipping
try being canadian
I'm well aware how much shipping costs. But $15 to ship a pair of socks or a hat is still silly
one time i tried to order a shirt and a tshirt and tehy were coming from two different warehouses and they tried to charge me $98usd to ship from NY to Toronto
18east fulfillment has always been fucked because of their warehouse. Hopefully that gets sorted out this year
Yeah apparently it's being fixed. Site once again has no international shipping because of it.
they truly have the worst logistics of any brand ive ever shopped at. whether it's luck or how its setup it's next-level. but i still have a lot of pieces i really like.
Yep. The fact that you have to call to place orders (especially before any of the stuff even gets listed on the site) is hilarious
:Hello911: yes, can you please describe in vivid detail what the new shirt looks like? There is a new shirt this season, right? Idk I'm just trying to order before it gets sold out before release like every season. :Hello911:
🤷🏻♂️
1lb USPS Priority from coast to coast is under $10. Even cheaper if you use Ground Advantage or the UPS/FedEx equivalent. And businesses can work out volume pricing with these couriers too.
Starting at $15 flat is just some Grailed Labels shenanigans
3pl (3rd party logistics) all sucks shit and they're the grifters marking up shipping. shopify 3pl (fourth party logistics really) is notorious for being this level of shit and 18e is definitely just passing whatever they get as the cost along. not to defend 18e, i've got a ton of gripes with em but this one isn't one
I mean... I'm not dissing the brand itself. Just pointing out that their fulfillment has always been baffling
Especially when smaller, newer brands in the same niche - and who also use Shopify - can do much better in that aspect
But that's supposed to get fixed SOON (TM), so hopefully their shipping options get reworked too
Yeh within the US the postage is $5-6 for retail customers shipping an item of that size
But they prob don't want to deal with charging different shipping rates for different items
I'd like to get the socks cuz they're pretty unlike regular darn tough ones (could hopefully get them in store when I'm home) but they're crew socks rather than over the calf which is what'd I want with ticks and snow
The socks are real nice :DillonOkHand:
I literally only wear Darn Tough socks but their designs are terrible
You're going to have your mind blown when you learn about the 90s
People used to call about all kinds of things. It was nuts
fwiw I just email their customer service, it’s not too bad as long as they actually reply. They don’t take phone orders on drop days.
I mean... I grew up in a 3rd world country and didn't have internet access at home until I was an adult so I am familiar with the old school ways. :feelsKEKman:
It's just so out of place in the context of... 2024 and how much internet/social media presence 18east tries to maintain.
This is such a weird way to approach this
Don't let users tag you on IG photos. You don't like shooting on models on your site. And also sizing is a dice roll. I own a lot of 18e but goddamn do they confuse me sometimes.
Sizing being a dice roll should just not be for a mainly online brand
i mean they give size charts and recommendations but they also put an XL on someone who weighs 130 pounds. Very weird.
it seems like the brand dosnt trust their customers to wear the clothes in the "correct" way
tbh the size charts has never helped me bc the fabrics they use dont fit the same way any of my other shirts or jackets do
bought a sweatshirt where the rec was to wear the regular size you are for a oversized look or size down for a more fitted one and yes, the measurements were correct, but the way it fit was so different from my other sweatshirts with similar sizes and it fit regular rather than oversized
model shot wouldve been very helpful as long as they included it and was like btw he's wearing a xl. cause the fit i was trying to get was one like the model had
but i guess this works for them bc it sounds like theyre getting less complaints?
yeah i agree there's some odd patterns, TTS for me in the oxfords is a great fit but I had to size up in the field shirts.
i actually sized down in a pair of balloon pants becuase they're elasticated
I didn't realize they don't allow users to tag them lmao
I've always wondered why their tagged pics were so useless
Gotta rely on hashtags which are dogshit now because Instagram won't let you sort by recent anymore
I've put off ordering so many pairs of pants specifically because I can't figure out how it would look on myself. I like wide fits but that doesn't mean buying the largest size and hoping the shitty internal drawstrings (because most 18E pants don't do belt loops) will hold the pants up
This.
If Antonio had his way, all the sizes would fit a lot bigger but they had so many returns and confused customers that they had to change their sizing.
The intended and envisioned fit is baggier and more oversized than possibly even current standards (and certainly much more than standards years ago). so the models are wearing what seems like huge sizes to achieve that
yeah the balloon pants i got are oversized even going down one but the drawstring stinks because the fabric is so heavy
its really weird because no other brand come to mind where theres that much of a dissonance between the envisioned image and reality. especially a brand like 18east where the presence is mainly from what i assume to be fans rather than someone stumbling through the shop naturally, so it confuses me that people returned that many things assuming it would be a regular fit if it was oversized from the beginning. he also fit the models in xl from the start, and that's been something people complained about since day 1. honestly i feel like the returns was from inconsistent sizing rather than things fitting bigger than they expected
if he just had a model wear their normal size and conveyed his image by just making the regular sizes a oversized fit, i feel like there wouldnt have been any problems from the beginning.
its just that confusion of, okay so the model is wearing an xl. i see the size chart, but that isn't really helping me imagine what itll look like on me.
i remember seeing a medium have shorter length than the small for one the pieces a while back and at that point i was like, wtf is going on
Just playing devils advocate but this may be why he wanted to move away from on model shots altogether
i feel like it wouldve been just been better to either create the garments in the way he intents them to fit or just have the model wear the sizes they would typically wear.
Taking the model photo out makes sense if he's going to just have them wear XL but just in my case, seeing the model wear the sweatshirt on insta and then buying it expecting it to fit similar I was just confused.
Since there wasn't any mention of what the model was wearing on Instagram and it seems like the all male models wearing XL is something you'd only if you dig deeper on styleforum
it also doesn't help that half the XXL model shots are done with clips, iirc one of the guys posted some BTS from an ecom shoot and all the pants had clips on the waist which like, makes sense if you're shooting samples for a lookbook but kinda falls apart if you're just saying this 130lb man is wearing size 36 pants pls size up.
Yep. And no belt loops on nearly all their pants. Stupid as hell. I sold both pairs of my goreckis because I got tired of the internal drawstrings
It seems like theres a gulf between the vision for on model shots and its execution
For the most part I fuck with everything I've bought from them, teh cost to quality level is good
just some weirdness
i love my goreckis, internal drawstring is fine btu the ones on my ankles bother me a bit
The two pieces I bought from them are on the smaller side of small. One is tagged medium and one small but the rec was to size down for a regular fit so I just stuck to my normal size cause I wanted a oversized fit..I really like the fabric and quality, but I think I'll just hold off in the future unless I'm able to shop in store someday to try them on myself.
this is so sick, the stripes are woven into the fabric and there's handstitching along them, but then it sold out in 10 minutes so i dont have to feel bad about spending $300+ on it
$300? says $175 on the site? I wanted it so bad lol
Canada 😦
it should be closer to $235 but they must be using some funny math because they had it listed at $285
Then there's duties, shipping, tax.
aw man, well yeah glad you couldn't buy it then lol
Some amazing stuff in the latest drop. It's gonna be great when I can find em on resale so I don't have to deal with 18e's website.
Finally came across a pair of the brown mended Benny pants (their best, imo) but a size smaller than I would have liked. 😕
Yeah there’s a medium kicking about on Grailed. I want a L or XL tho.
18east is not where I was expecting to get my pleated pants fix but those jian pants are tempting
anyone have any pics of them on body from an earlier drop?
Hahahaha we've been watching the same listing! Dude tried to convince me I can fit into a medium but I'm finally realistic about my waist size
i think their non-stretch pant waists can be pretty unforgiving too
I think I’m holding out for a blue pair to pop up for now
But not top of my list, you eying brown? If I spot one I’ll send it along.

they're real cool tho, the insides are wild because they're so overdyed on the inside compared to the shirt itself. mine are a few years old too so they may have cranked the saturation up a bit on the new dyes
The texture on those new double knees looks sick
I asked on StyleForum why there's a 20% markup when you switch currencies and Antonio's response was "we have no control over that". I have truly never seen a brand this bad at logistics.
(for reference)
I'm sure it's a nice shirt, but I don't think it's $400 nice.
$122 shipping to Canada though...
apparently that includes duties/taxes, so if they estimate that right (doubtful) it's about $75 duties/$45 shipping)
Tried using proxy services?
Not worth it tbh. It sells out too fast. I’ll just keep being a second hand buyer.
Considering getting the big polo from the sale, anyone like them?
New drop looks pretty decent, fabric for the new Lamar coat seems nice
That herringbone drop shoulder bomber looks pretty nice
